Patrol Report 12/08/2014

The Corpus Christi Police Department generated 204 reports for formal criminal complaints from midnight December 6 to 7:00 a.m. on December 8, 2014. These are samples of the criminal complaints filed by the Corpus Christi Police for that time period.

 

“Adam” District

Location: 3800 State Highway 77
Offense: Forgery
(PC 32.21 Second Degree Felony)
Case Number: 1412060107
Corpus Christi Police responded to a business located at 3829 State Highway 77 Access Road after store employees found out that they took in eight counterfeit one hundred dollar bills at about 5: 40 PM on December 5.

Employees discovered the fake bills later the next day, and they are in the process of reviewing surveillance footage to help identify the suspects.

The employees told officers that it appears as though the suspects got away with over $600 worth of merchandise, and over $150 dollars in real change after they handed over the fake money and got real money from the cashier.

All of the fake bills were recovered by police and officers continue to investigate this case.

Corpus Christi Police responded to the area of Beach Marker 198 on Padre Island after a man walked up to a group of people at a bonfire and started firing a gun.

Several witnesses reported to the officers that an intoxicated male drove up to the bonfire got out and appeared intoxicated.  A short time after the suspect arrived, he began firing a handgun into the air.

Officers arrived and found the suspect, Michael Bennett (10/21/1985) near his truck and arrested him.  Officers recovered a .380 caliber semiautomatic pistol and several shell casings.  The suspect was arrested for deadly conduct, a third degree felony, as well as public intoxication, a Class C misdemeanor.

Offense: Aggravated Assault

A 34 year old male victim drove himself to Spohn MMC hospital after he was shot at a home in the 2100 block of Joyce St.

At the hospital the victim was contacted by Corpus Christi Police and he told them that he went to the home of the suspect and while there the suspect told the victim that he needed to speak with him outside. Once outside the suspect said they had some “business to take care of” and he pulled out a handgun and shot the victim one time in his left foot.

The victim got into his car, that was occupied by five kids ranging in age between two and sixteen years old, and he attempted to flee the scene.  As the victim began to back his car out of the driveway, the suspect pointed the gun in the direction of his vehicle.  He did not fire the gun, and the victim was able to flee the scene and drive himself to the hospital.

Officers responded to the home on Joyce St. and arrested Armando Ramirez (01/16/1982) for several counts of aggravated assault.  Officers recovered the .22 caliber pistol used in the shooting and a shell casing.  None of the children were injured during this call.
