Offense: Robbery
(PC 29.02 Second Degree Felony)
Case Number: 1412090139
A 30 year old male store clerk called Corpus Christi Police after a man came into a business located at 1621 Leopard Street and attempted to use a stolen credit card.

The store clerk told officers that a regular customer, Daniel Kelley (01/06/1990), came into the store and gave him a credit card to run for two packs of cigarettes. The clerk said he thought this was unusual because this particular customer is a transient who begs for money in his parking lot.

The clerk also noticed that the name on the American Express Business Card was a female’s name.

The clerk then told the man  to leave the store and the suspect demanded the card back. The suspect went around the store counter to get the card back from the clerk when he refused to give it back to him.  The suspect struggled with the clerk to get the card causing the clerk to suffer minor injuries.  The suspect then fled on foot and the clerk called police.

Responding officers viewed the video surveillance from the store camera system and one of the officers recognized the suspect.

Officers located the suspect a short time later on the North Alameda Street Pedestrian Foot Bridge and he was arrested and charged with credit card abuse, a state jail felony.  The suspect was additionally charged with robbery, a second degree felony, for using force in an attempt to take the card back from the clerk.
