Patrol Report 12/22/2014

The Corpus Christi Police Department generated 194 reports for formal criminal complaints from midnight December 21 to 7:00 a.m. on December 22, 2014. These are samples of the criminal complaints filed by the Corpus Christi Police for that time period.

 

“Bravo” District
Date: 12/22/2014        4:15 AM
Location: 5800 South Alameda Street
Offense: Discharge Firearm in Municipality
(PC42.12        Class A Misdemeanor)
Case Number: 1412220020
Corpus Christi Police responded to a home located in the 5800 block of South Alameda Street after a call came in reporting shots fired in the area.

Officers arrived and made contact with the suspect, Ramiro Sanchez (04/25/1979), at the front door of the duplex.   While talking with officers, the suspect slammed the door and went back inside.

Officers then head two shots from inside, and at that same time a 34 year old female, late identified as the suspect’s wife, came running out of the duplex.   The female told officers that her husband was armed with a handgun and that she had attempted to leave the residence when officers arrived but the suspect would not let her and he physically held her away from the door not allowing her to leave.

Another officer at the scene was able to establish phone contact with the suspect inside, and he came out of the home and was taken into custody without incident at about 5:35 AM.

Officers recovered a handgun inside the home, and the suspect was arrested for discharging a firearm in a municipality, and unlawful restraint, both Class A misdemeanors.

There were two other  family members inside the duplex besides the husband and wife, when the disturbance began.  Both of those adult’s  were able to flee  after the first shots were fired.  No one was injured.

 

 

“Charlie” District

Offense: Deadly Conduct

Corpus Christi Police responded to the 4400 block of Totton St. after a vehicle was struck several times by gunfire.

A 52 year old female told officers she was inside her home when she heard multiple gunshots outside. She went outside and found her mother in law`s vehicle, a 2009 black Cadillac sedan,  that was parked in the street had eight bullet holes in the driver’s side.

Officers recovered eight spent .40 caliber shell casings in the middle of the street.

Officers are still investigating this case and at this time they have no suspect description or vehicle description.

Offense: Forgery

Corpus Christi Police responded to a business located at 3500 Ayers Street and were told by the manager of the fast food restaurant that an unknown suspect had passed two counterfeit twenty dollar bills at the business sometime earlier in the day.

The business is checking surveillance images to see if they can identify the suspect who passed the bills.

Officers collected the two fake bills and continue to investigate this case.

Offense: Aggravated Assault

Corpus Christi Police responded to a business located at 910 South Tancahua Street for a man threatening people with a machete.

A 52 year old male victim told officers the man with a machete had tried to attack him and his daughter while they were both outside of an apartment in the 900 block of S. Tancahua St.

Other witnesses told officers that they saw the suspect walking toward the male swinging the machete in an attempt to cut him.

Officers arrived and arrested Billy Ray Lopez (06/23/1962) and charged him with aggravated assault, a second degree felony.

They recovered the machete, and no one was injured.

 

“Adam” District

Location: 200 State Highway 358 West
Offense: Fatality Crash Update

Corpus Christi Police are investigating a two car crash that killed one man on State Highway 358 West over Bear Lane.

The crash investigation revealed that a 2004 Toyota Camry four door was being driven by a 32 year old man going the wrong direction on the freeway.  Witnesses told officers the Toyota was traveling east in the west bound lanes of the freeway.  The Toyota Camry struck a 2015 Ford Fiesta four door being operated by a 68 year old man and he was killed as a result of this crash.  No other people were in either vehicle.

The 32 year old male showed signs of intoxication, and officers have started a criminal investigation.  He was transported to Spohn MMC by CCFD EMS for serious leg injuries.

On December 19, 2014 at 5 PM officers responded to Spohn MMC and arrested Julian Andrew Padron (06/25/1982) after they obtained an arrest warrant on charges of intoxicated manslaughter.  The suspect had been in the hospital since the crash getting treatment for his injuries.  After he was cleared by medical staff  he was arrested.    At this time, blood results are still pending.
