Patrol Report 12/23/2014

The Corpus Christi Police Department generated 206 reports for formal criminal complaints from midnight December 22 to 7:00 a.m. on December 23, 2014. These are samples of the criminal complaints filed by the Corpus Christi Police for that time period.

 

“Bravo” District

Offense: Burglary

A man called Corpus Christi Police after he witnessed a suspect sitting in the passenger side seat of his neighbors silver Chrysler 300.

The car was parked in the driveway of a home located in the 2500 block of Catherwood Drive. The suspect exited the car and began to walk away and the neighbor began following the suspect and watched him cross Airline Rd and walk into a field.

A responding officer located the suspect trying to hide, in between two houses, in the 6600 block of Park Wind Street a short time later.

Officers arrested Alex Campbell (11/101985) and charged him with burglary of a vehicle, a Class A misdemeanor, and returned the stolen property to the owner.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer arriving at a police substation, located at 2230 Saratoga Boulevard, for work discovered a man in the parking lot that had shot himself in the chest.

The officer found the 40 year old male victim up against the fence in front of his purple Dodge Challenger car.  Officers also located a handgun nearby.

Earlier in the day, at about 9 AM, officers had responded to the victim’s apartment to check his welfare after an ex-girlfriend called to report that he indicated to her, through emails, that he intended to harm himself.

Officers checked the victim’s apartment and his listed place of employment, but did not locate him.  Information was then broadcast to all officers concerning the welfare of the victim a short time later.

 

“Delta” District

Offense: Assault on a Public Servant
(PC 22.01 Third Degree Felony)

A Corpus Christi Police Officer was hit in the face by a man that approached her in the parking lot of a business located at 701 North Staples Street while she was talking to another officer.

One officer was in his police car and the other was standing outside talking to him through an open driver side door window when Julian Morin (08/10/1984) walked up like he was going to ask them a question.

All of the sudden the suspect dropped the plastic bag he was carrying and started swinging at the officer. The female officer was able to back up but could not avoid being struck on the side of her face by a punch thrown by the suspect.

Both officers were able to take the suspect into custody, and he is charged with assaulting a public servant, a third degree felony.

The officer declined medical attention but did have a swollen and red right eye.
