The Corpus Christi Police Department generated 169 reports for formal criminal complaints from midnight January 6 to 7:00 a.m. on January 7, 2015. These are samples of the criminal complaints filed by the Corpus Christi Police for that time period.

 

“Bravo” District

Offense: Felony Warrant for Arrest

A female talking on her cell phone while she was driving led Corpus Christi Police to the arrest of a wanted felony suspect.

Officers on patrol observed a blue Mitsubishi Outlander in the 1500 block of Rodd Field Road being operated by a female driver who was holding a cell phone in her left hand up against her ear.

Once officers stopped the SUV, they found a passenger inside, Brandon Butts (02/08/1990), who had an outstanding felony arrest warrant for a parole violation for an original charge of burglary.

The male was arrested, and the warrant issued on 09/29/2014 had no bond.

The female driver was given a citation for operating a motor vehicle while using a wireless telecommunication device.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer stopped a SUV and found an intoxicated mother driving her two children home.

The officer stopped the black GMC Yukon after observing it commit several traffic violations while traveling east on State Highway 358 near Old Brownsville Road.

Once the officer made contact with the driver he found a 3 year old male and a 3 year old female in the SUV.  After an investigation it was determined that the driver, Laura Zaragoza (10/01/1978) the mother of the children was intoxicated, and she was arrested.

The female suspect was charged with driving while intoxicated with a child passenger since the occupants in the car were under the age of fifteen.

Her SUV was impounded and her two children were released to family members.

A 33 year old male victim called Corpus Christi Police after he found his vehicle had been broken into and three handguns were stolen.

The victim said he had stopped at a restaurant located at 2001 South Padre Island Drive after he and some friends had been shooting at a gun range.

While he was inside, suspects entered his 2000 Chevrolet truck by punching the door lock on the driver’s side door. The suspects removed two tool boxes containing hand tools and work equipment and the three handguns.

The victim estimated that the total worth of all his property lost was over $3500.

At this time officers are still investigating this case, and no suspects have been arrested.

A 35 year old female victim called Corpus Christi Police after she was robbed by a man with a knife.

The victim told officers she was walking home in the 800 block of S. Port Avenue and she decided to take a short cut and walked through a parking lot. She was approached by a Hispanic male, wearing blue jeans, and several layers of shirts with tattoo`s on his neck. The man pulled out a knife and told her to empty her pockets. The victim complied with the demand and gave him the cash she had and he then ran towards Ruth Street.

The female was not injured during the robbery.

Officers made an attempt to locate the suspect in the area of the robbery and the surrounding neighborhood but were unable to locate anyone.
