Location: 3200 Surfside Drive
Offense: Assault P.C. 22.01       Class A Misdemeanor
Case Number: 1501210009
A man was bitten on the ear by another man while they sat detained in a Corpus Christi Police unit.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer saw four males arguing in the 200 block of Golf Place on North Beach.   The officer began detaining people because it appeared that they had  been involved in a fight that was reported earlier.

The officer handcuffed two men and put both in the rear seat of his patrol unit in order to separate the four people to further investigate the call.  A short time later the officer heard a loud commotion coming from the rear of his patrol unit. When he opened the rear door he saw both men struggling with each other even though they were both still secured in handcuffs.

The 32 year old man told officers that the other man had bitten him in his right ear.  He had a visible laceration on his right ear lobe. The two were separated and offices were able to review rear seat camera footage from the officers in car camera to confirm the assault.

Officers arrested, Jeffrey Wheaton (07/10/1978), and he is being charged with assault.  The victim refused treatment for his injures.
