Patrol Report 01/23/2015

The Corpus Christi Police Department generated 173 reports for formal criminal complaints from midnight January 22 to 7:00 a.m. on January 23, 2015. These are samples of the criminal complaints filed by the Corpus Christi Police for that time period.

 

“Bravo” District

Location: 4600 Flour Bluff Drive
Offense: Driving While Intoxicated
P.C. 49.04       Class A Misdemeanor
Case Number: 1501230008
Corpus Christi Police responded to a one car crash in the 4600 block of Flour Bluff Drive and found the driver was intoxicated.

Officers arrived and found a 2004 Dodge Ram truck had left the roadway and drove into a private drive striking some metal barriers and a concrete block.

After an investigation it was determined that the driver, Ozvaldo Rodriguez (09/23/1992), was intoxicated.  The driver was treated at Spohn Shoreline for minor injuries that were due to the crash, and he was arrested for driving while intoxicated, a Class A misdemeanor.

Officers estimate that the driver did nearly $8,000 in damage to the metal barriers that he struck.

The manager of a hotel called Corpus Christi Police after he noticed that someone had stolen the television from the fitness room.

Officers responded to the Candlewood Suites located at 9225 S. Padre Island Drive and were directed to the hotel fitness room and informed that a 40 inch Samsung television had been removed.  The manger estimated the cost of the television was over $500.

The manager was able to review video surveillance footage from hotel cameras and he did see three males removing the television.

Officers are still investigating this case, and no suspects have been arrested for the theft.

Offense: Aggravated Assault P.C. 22.02       Second Degree Felony Case Number: 1501220131
Four males were threatened with a knife after they went to the aid of a female being assaulted by her boyfriend at Hardknocks, located at 5862 Everhart Road.

Corpus Christi Police responded to the front parking lot of the bar and found the suspect being held on the ground by several males.  Witnesses told officers that they were inside the bar when they saw the male and the female leaving.  They then saw the male grab the female by her hair and shove her into the door.

Four males from inside the bar walked outside to try and prevent further violence and that is when the suspect produced a pocket knife and began waving it at the men in a threatening manner.
The males were able to get the suspect on the ground and hold him there until police arrived.

Officers arrested John Alfred Lopez (10/12/1990) and recovered the knife.  The suspect was charged with aggravated assault, for making threats while holding the knife, and he was additionally charged with a Class A misdemeanor for assaulting his girlfriend.

The four males and the girlfriend were all not seriously injured.

A 33 year old male called Corpus Christi Police after he heard shots being fired in his neighborhood.

Officers responded to the 4400 block of Carlton Street and found two 9 mm shell casings in the street in front of 4462 Carlton Street.

Officers searched the area to see if anyone or any property had been struck by gunfire, but they did not locate anything that had been hit.  The male did not see any suspects or a vehicle at the time he heard the shots.

The casings were collected, and officers continue to investigate this case.
