“Delta” District
Date: 1/27/2015          7:10 PM
Location: 900 North Shoreline Boulevard
Offense: Possession of Marijuana
H.S.C. 481.121           (State Jail Felony)
Case Number: 1501270129
Corpus Christi Police responded to the 18th floor of the Omni Hotel located at 900 North Shoreline Boulevard after hotel staff was notified by other guests that the entire floor had a strong odor of marijuana.

Hotel Staff pin pointed which room it was coming from and notified officers. Management let officers into the room and they found no one inside but they did see sitting on top of the bathroom counter zip lock bags, an electronic scale, and two large bags full of marijuana.

While officers were investigating this call, the person who had paid for the room arrived back with another man. When the suspect, Justin Perez (08/12/1992), saw the officers he fled on foot down the stairs. Officers perused the suspect down several floors and he ultimately jumped from the second floor to the street and in the process destroyed an awning near the swimming pool.

After a brief struggle, officers were able to take the suspect into custody on Water Street across from the hotel parking garage. The suspect was treated at Spohn Shoreline for minor injuries he received when he jumped, and then he was transported to the City Detention Center.

He was charged with possession of marijuana, a state jail felony, evading and resisting arrest, both Class A Misdemeanors. He was additionally charged with felony criminal mischief for destroying the awning that was valued at $1,500.

The 23 year old man that was with the suspect did not run and he was cooperating with the investigation. He has not been charged with any crime at this time.
