P.C. 49.04 Class A Misdemeanor
Case Number: 1502030013
A Corpus Christi Police Prisoner Transport unit was the victim of a road rage incident while traveling on S. Padre Island Drive.
The fully marked police transport van was traveling to the City Dentation Center with a prisoner when a 2007 Ford truck traveling at a high rate of speed, nearly struck the unit while cutting him off. The transport officer activated the air horn on the police van attempting to get the drivers attention to stop his reckless driving.
The truck exited the freeway at Kostoryz Road, only to reenter back at the next on ramp. The truck pulled up next to the van, slowed down, and then fell in behind tailgating the unit at a very close distance. The transport officer felt that the driver of the truck was creating a dangerous situation for him, and the prisoner in his unit, so he called for assistance from patrol officers.
Officers were able to stop the truck that was still behind the van at the intersection of Buffalo Street and Tancahua Street. After an investigation, it was determined that the driver, Joseph Allison (05/28/1983), was intoxicated, and he was arrested.
