Location: 2700 Waldron Road
Offense: Assault on Public Servant
P.C. 22.01       (Third Degree Felony)
Case Number: 1502090124
A Corpus Christi Police Officer was assaulted by a couple while he was investigating a traffic crash they caused.

Officers were on the scene of a crash at the intersection of Waldron Road and Glenoak Drive when one officer began to talk to the at fault driver in an accident. The officer determined that the male he was speaking to was the driver of a 2007 Hyundai two door that was traveling south on Waldron Road and the female with him was a passenger. The driver of the Hyundai ran a red light and struck a 2015 BMW that was going east on Glenoak Drive.

After an investigation the officer determined the male driver was intoxicated and he went to arrest him. When he did a physical altercation occurred, and while the officer was attempting to gain control of the male suspect, the female jumped on top of him.

Other officers arrived to assist and they were able to gain control of both and they were arrested and taken to Spohn Shoreline Hospital for minor injuries.

The driver, Joshua Clark (03/21/1985), was charged with driving while intoxicated, resisting arrest and assault on a public servant. The female passenger Heather Franje (11/29/1988) was arrested for resisting arrest and assault on a public servant, both felony charges.

The driver and passenger of the BMW were not injured in the crash. The officer only suffered minor injuries and returned to work.
