A Corpus Christi Police Officer on patrol in the Woodriver subdivision area saw a truck towing a utility trailer that didn’t have any license plates attached to it. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle but it continued even after he had activated his emergency lights for another block.
When the truck did stop the driver, Diamond Jackson (08/17/1988), jumped out and attempted to flee on foot. The officer was able to take the suspect into custody as he attempted to jump over a fence.
An investigation revealed that the 2015 Chevrolet truck the suspect was driving was stolen on Monday from a customer at the Keg Room located at 4700 S. Alameda Street. The license plate being displayed on the stolen truck the suspect had been driving was stolen from another truck while it was parked at an apartment complex on Weber Road. The trailer attached to the stolen truck was also determined to be stolen. It had been taken from a tire shop located in the 4300 block of Violet Road earlier in the evening.
The suspect was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and evading police both felony offenses. He was additionally charged with four other misdemeanor offenses.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer sitting in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart, at 1250 Flour Bluff Drive, saw a store employee chasing after a man with a television in a shopping cart.
The officer went to investigate and determined that a store employee saw the suspect with the items in a cart inside the store. He then watched him walk pass the registers and the man made no attempt to pay for the items and walked outside.
Inside the cart the officer found a 42 inch television, and a blue ray DVD player. Total cost of the items was over $500.
The officer identified the suspect as, Jason Avalos (05/19/1974), and it was determined that this suspect was also wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant for theft. He had run out of the Kohl’s Store on February 4 with a $3,000 diamond ring and was identified because of a Facebook friend who recognized him.
The suspect was arrested for the new theft charge, and was also booked on the felony theft warrant.

A man armed with a large pair of hedge clippers robbed the Stripes Store, located at 4502 Ayers Street.
Corpus Christi Police Officers arrived and the store clerk told them that a male suspect who had the gardening tool in his hands was demanding the money in the store cash register. The clerk said that after the suspect came around the counter and threatened her, she ran out the front door of the store. The suspect then made several unsuccessful attempts to open the register, and then gave up and exited the store without any money.
The responding officer was able to view store surveillance video of the crime, and put out a description of the suspect and his vehicle to other officers. Other officers responding to an unrelated call found the suspect vehicle parked between two apartments in the 300 block of Twelfth Street. Officers found the suspect in the backyard of one of the apartments and after a brief struggle he was taken into custody.
Officers were able to recover the hedge clippers used as a weapon by the suspect. Miguel Castillo (07/19/1977) was arrested for aggravated robbery, a first degree felony.

Offense: Evading Arrest with Vehicle

A Corpus Christi Police Officer was fueling up his patrol unit at the Stripes Store, located at 1419 Laredo Street, when he observed a vehicle driving through the parking lot at a high rate of speed.
He then saw the 2001 Saturn two door strike a fence next to the store where the dumpsters are kept. The officer approached the vehicle and ordered the driver to stop and turn the car off. The driver refused and took off in the vehicle down Brownlee Blvd. at a high rate of speed attempting to elude responding officers.
A short time later, officers found the vehicle parked in the 1400 block of Laredo St. with the male suspect still inside. After an investigation, officers determined that the driver, Jose Aguilera (12/02/1958), was intoxicated and he was arrested. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless destruction, and evading police in a vehicle.
Damage to the fence at the store was estimated to be $600.
