Case Number: 1502190087
Corpus Christi Police responded to a hit and run crash at the Stripes Store located at 5301 S. Staple Street.
Officers arrived and found that a truck, occupied by two males, had pulled into the store parking lot and collided with two steel safety poles protecting the gas pumps. The 37 year old front seat passenger in the vehicle got out as the truck drove away from the scene. When he did, he fell, and cut his chin on the pavement.
The driver of the fleeing truck continued down Curtis Clark Drive. While traveling at a high rate of speed down the street, the truck left the roadway and traveled into the front yard of 5329 Curtis Clark Drive striking a wooden fence. This did nearly $1000 in damage to the property.
The truck still did not stop and continued to the intersection of Everhart Road and Holly Road where he was spotted by an officer. The officer stopped the truck and as he was walking up to contact the driver, he intentionally rammed his pickup into the police unit parked behind him. The officer was able to grab the driver and pull him out of his vehicle and take him into custody.
After an investigation it was determined that the driver was intoxicated. Rodolfo Ramirez (01/26/1966) was arrested for driving while intoxicated. He was additionally charged with felony criminal mischief due to the amount of property damage he did at the Stripes Store and at the home on Curtis Clark Drive.
