Patrol Report 04/03/2015

The Corpus Christi Police Department generated 216 reports for formal criminal complaints from midnight April 2 to 7:00 a.m. on April 3, 2015. These are samples of the criminal complaints filed by the Corpus Christi Police for that time period.

An argument over a cell phone call led to one man being shot in the forearm.

The disturbance started when a 51 year old female got into a verbal argument with another female over the phone because she kept calling her cell phone looking for a girl named “Mia.”

A short time after she hung up on the girl, she walked outside of her home which is located in the 700 block of Westchester Drive and was attacked by two Hispanic females.  During the attack, the victim was able to call out to her brother who was inside watching television.  When he walked out, he was shot in the arm by a man that got out of a white color Nissan that was parked in the street.

After the shooting the two female suspects and the male, who had shot the gun, got in to the vehicle and fled the scene.

The 56 year old male was transported to Spohn Memorial Hospital by CCFD EMS with a single gunshot wound to his lower left arm.   The victims injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

Officers were able to locate the white Nissan car, that the suspects had fled the scene in, parked at the La Siesta Motel located in the 4300 block of Leopard Street.  The suspect vehicle was impounded.

Officers checked a room at the motel for the suspects, but neither the male nor the two females were located. At this time officers continue to investigate this case, and no suspects have been arrested.

A 53 year old female business owner called Corpus Christi Police after she arrived at work and found her vehicle without tires and up on concrete blocks.

The victim told officers that sometime during the night some suspects entered onto her business property, located at 2814 South Padre Island Drive, and removed all four tires to her 1995 GMC truck that was parked on the property.  The tires were valued at $2,500.

At this time officers continue to investigate this case and no suspects have been arrested.

Offense: Driving While Intoxicated

Corpus Christi Police responded to a rollover crash in the 5300 block of Inverness Drive and found a car upside down in the middle of the street.

The crash investigation revealed that the driver of a 2010 Toyota Corolla was traveling down Inverness Street when she lost control of her vehicle after taking a curve in the roadway at a high rate of speed. This caused the vehicle to roll over, coming to rest on its top.  While rolling, the vehicle struck two unoccupied cars parked along the street.

After an investigation, officers determined that the driver was intoxicated.  Hallie Rodriguez (01/02/1996) was arrested for driving while intoxicated.  She was taken to Spohn Memorial Hospital and treated for injuries she sustained as a result of the crash.

She was additionally charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon when a loaded handgun was located inside a backpack in her vehicle.

A 24 year old male victim called Corpus Christi Police after he was stabbed in the side of the head by his nephew.

Officers arrived and the victim told them that he and several other family members went to a bar in the 3300 block of Ayers Street. When they arrived the bar was closed.  While they were still there talking, a nephew of the victim also arrived to find the bar closed.

A verbal dispute between the two then turned physical when they both started fighting.   During the fight, the nephew stabbed his uncle on the left side of his head near his temple with a green pocket knife.  When other family members intervened, the nephew took off running.

The victim was taken to Spohn Memorial Hospital by CCFD EMS to be treated for his injuries.  At this time, the stab wound appears to be non-life threatening.

The victim and other family members were able to give police information on where the suspect could be located.  Officers found the nephew hiding in an area near where he lives.  Abel Marquez (10/20/1979) was taken into custody in the backyard of a home located in the 100 block of Blevins Street.
