Patrol Report 04/06/2015

The Corpus Christi Police Department generated 175 reports for formal criminal complaints from midnight April 5 to 7:00 a.m. on April 6, 2015. These are samples of the criminal complaints filed by the Corpus Christi Police for that time period.

Offense: Burglary

Corpus Christi Police responded to a report of a burglary with the suspect being detained in the parking lot of an apartment complex located at 4101 Brett Street.  Officers arrived to find the suspect, Johnny Barrera (08/08/1990), being held down by a 28 year old male victim of an auto burglary.

The victim told officers that he had walked out to his truck to find the suspect prying on the driver door handle. The suspect attempted to run and the victim caught him and yelled at someone to call the police.

Officers arrived and the suspect was arrested for burglary. He was additionally charged with failure to identify when he lied to officers about his real name.

After confirming his real name, officers determined that the suspect had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for failure to appear.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a stabbing at a home located in the 400 block of Beverly Street.  When officers arrived they found a male suspect being held down on the ground by several neighbors in front of a home.

When officers went into the house they found a 64 year old female laying on her back on the living room floor. The victim had duct tape around her wrist and her ankles.  She also had several cuts to her hands and wrist.

Also in the home officers found a 19 year old female who had cuts to her hands and feet. She was able to tell officers that when she came home today, her mom, and her mom`s husband were home arguing. She said the argument became physical when the man hit her mom. When she went to grab him off of her mom, he tossed her to the ground, picked up a knife and started trying to stab her. He then took a rope and used it to tie up her hands and feet to a chair. He then bound her mother with duct tape to another chair.

Both females had been cut by the man’s knife and were bleeding. While they were tied up, the man kept making threats to kill them both.

The 19 year old victim was able to break free and she ran to her bedroom. She blocked the door with a dresser, opened the window, and yelled outside for help. A 49 year old male neighbor came over and was able to pull her out the bedroom window.

The suspect then exited the house out the front door and the neighbor took to the ground. Other neighbors then come over to help him hold the suspect until police arrived.

Both females were transported to Spohn Memorial Hospital with injuries not believed to be life threatening.

The estranged husband, Guadalupe Gonzalez (07/07/1957), was arrested for aggravated assault and unlawful restraint.

Offense: Driving While Intoxicated

Corpus Christi Police responded to a call about a vehicle stopped at an intersection and the driver asleep behind the wheel.

Officers arrived at Horne Road and Ayers Street to find a 2013 black Chrysler 200 stopped in the left turn lane of 4000 Ayers Street. The officer parked his police unit in front of the Chrysler, which was running, to try and prevent it from driving off.

The female in the driver seat, was passed out, but had the car in drive and her foot on the brake. When the driver woke up, she moved her foot from the brake to the accelerator, rolled forward and hit the parked patrol unit.

There was no damage to the unit and only a small dent in the front left bumper of the Chrysler.

After an investigation the driver, Ginger McFarland 11/24/1981), was determined to be intoxicated. She was arrested for driving while intoxicated and her vehicle was impounded.
