Patrol Report 04/13/2015

The Corpus Christi Police Department generated  189 reports for formal criminal complaints from midnight April 12 to 7:00 a.m. on April 13, 2015. These are samples of the criminal complaints filed by the Corpus Christi Police for that time period.

 

“BRAVO” District

Location: Beach Marker 208
Offense: Driving while Intoxicated
P.C.  49.04      Class B Misdemeanor
Case Number: 1504120145
Corpus Christi Police responded to a report of a vehicle that had driven into the Packery Channel south jetty and landed nearly 40 yards into the channel.

The driver of the 2006 Dodge truck, Raul Cantu (06/08/1991), was able to get out and swim back to shore and get onto the north jetty.

After an investigation it was determined that the driver was intoxicated. He was transported to Spohn Shoreline Hospital for treatment of minor injuries he received as a result of the crash and then arrested for driving while intoxicated.

Members of the Corpus Christi Police Dive Team responded and were able to drop a buoy in the bed of the submerged truck. The dive team will return in the morning to recover the truck. The street department responded and placed traffic safety cones and barrels to mark the damage to the jetty.

Corpus Christi Police responded to the 5200 block of Yorktown Road after a passing vehicle fired shots at another car while both traveled down the road.

Officers arrived and found the victim’s car disabled due to a flat tire because of the shooting. The male and female told officers that they were driving east in their Honda CRV when the driver of a newer model black BMW M Class two door with paper tag registration travelling behind them in the same direction fired four to five shots at them. The driver of the BMW then fired two to three more times as it passed the victim’s car hitting the Honda twice. These shots hit the front passenger side tire and rear door.

The BMW continued east on Yorktown Road and it was occupied by the driver and a white male passenger.

The male and female in the Honda were not injured. They said they did not know the driver or front passenger in the BMW and did not know why anyone would be shooting at them.

Officers were able to recover two shell casings from a .45 caliber handgun in the street on Yorktown Road near Boston Street.

At this time no suspects have been arrested.

Offense: Aggravated Robbery

A 46 year old man called Corpus Christi Police after he was robbed and assaulted by two men while at the intersection of Morgan Avenue and the Crosstown Freeway.

The victim said he was in his vehicle at the intersection when he was approached by two male suspects. He was pulled out of his car at knife point and hit several times in the face.

The second male armed with an ice pick guarded the victim, while the other searched the car.  The victim said that the suspects took a cell phone, his wallet, and a set of work keys from inside of the car.

The victim had minor scratches to his face and neck and he drove himself home before calling police.

The suspects were described as two Hispanic males, both approximately 6 feet tall. They were both wearing all black clothing and gloves.

At This time no suspects have been arrested.

Offense: Endangering A Child

Corpus Christi Police responded to a crash involving a car driven by an eight year old female that had run off the road and  into a chain length fence.

Officers arrived in the 1700 block of Mary Street and found a 1996 Ford Crown Victoria had left the roadway and struck the fence.  Inside the car they found the eight year old driver, and her mother.

A crash investigation revealed that the mother, Roxanne Iruegas (10/18/1991), was in the front passenger seat and her daughter was in the driver seat.  The child was acting like she was driving while the car was parked in front of their house at 1725 Mary Street.

The mother then allowed her daughter to drive the car for real down the street and that is when it crashed into a fence in front of 1717 Mary Street. The cost to repair the fence was estimated to be $600.

Officers determined the mother was under the influence of synthetic marijuana and she was charged with public intoxication. She was additionally charge with endangering her child.

The grandmother of the child came to the crash scene and took custody of the little girl who was not injured and the car.
