Patrol Report 04/16/2015

The Corpus Christi Police Department generated 226 reports for formal criminal complaints from midnight April 15 to 7:00 a.m. on April 16, 2015. These are samples of the criminal complaints filed by the Corpus Christi Police for that time period.

Corpus Christi Police were responding to the report of a vehicle driving on its tire rims down the freeway when they were notified it had crashed.

The 2001 Dodge Durango was seen by witnesses on State Highway 358 going east near Ayers Street driving with flat tires. The witness who called police said that his car was struck by pieces of the Dodge that had fallen off as it traveled down the freeway.

The witness saw the Dodge exit the freeway, at Rodd Field Road, it struck a yield sign, crossed over the curb, and hit a fire hydrant.

Officers arrived, in the 7100 block of Rodd Field Road, and after an investigation they determined that the driver, Parker Ray Morgan (01/11/1996), was intoxicated.  He was arrested for driving while intoxicated and his Dodge Durango was impounded.

The witnesses’ car was only slightly damaged by the debris from the suspect’s vehicle.

Suspect crashed in fire hydrant

A 29 year old man called Corpus Christi Police after two suspects forced their way into his home located in the 200 block of Longview West Street and took money from his girlfriend.

The man told officers that he heard banging on his front door, and then saw two black males come inside.  One of the suspects had a mask over his face and was armed with a shotgun.

Both suspects demanded money from the victim and his 26 year old girlfriend.  The girlfriend gave the suspects some money and they left out the front door and fled on foot.

The male victim told officers that he knew both of the suspects involved.

Officers were not able to locate the two suspects, but are still investigating this crime.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a report of a fight on the campus of Zavala Elementary School locate at 3125 Ruth Street.

Once officers arrived they were told by witnesses that some people in a Chevrolet truck leaving the area were involved in the fight and that one of the persons inside had displayed a gun.

Officers stopped the truck and in the backseat they found Crystal Martinez (08/25/1987).  Under her seat officers found a loaded 12 gauge shotgun.   In the seat back pocket in front of the female several small bags of cocaine were found.   The female was charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon and delivery of a controlled substance, both state jail felonies.

The driver of the truck, Diego Mendez (12/03/1992), and front passenger Joshua Zapata (08/11/1990) were also both arrested after a .40 caliber handgun was found in the center console of the front seat.   They were both charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.

Charges may be enhanced on all the suspects because Zavala Elementary School is a gun free zone and no weapons are permitted to be within 300 feet of the school campus. The truck was stopped no more than fifty feet away from the school.
