The Corpus Christi Police Department responded to 867 calls for service and generated 202 reports for formal criminal complaints from 7:00 a.m. March 30 to 7:00 a.m. on March 31, 2016. These are samples of the criminal complaints filed by the Corpus Christi Police for that time period.

Offense: Aggravated Assault

P.C.  22.02    Second Degree Felony

Case Number: 1603300160
A 60 year old man called Corpus Christi Police after he had the front windshield of his truck broken out and he was threatened by a friend outside his home in the 1600 block of Tenth Street.

Officers arrived and the male victim told them that he was at his home when he was approached by a friend he knew.  The friend started yelling and cursing at the victim for no reason and then picked up a metal chair and started hitting the windshield of his 2003 Chevrolet Silverado truck.  When the victim confronted his friend about the broken windshield the friend pulled out a knife and swung it at him.   The victim was not injured.

Officers later located the suspect, Michael Moreno (07/20/1988), and arrested him for aggravated assault and criminal mischief.

Offense: Abusive Calls to 911

A man was arrested by Corpus Christi Police after he made several calls to 911 demanding police give him a ride across the Harbor Bridge from North Beach.

Officers responded to the man’s first two calls to 911 from a motel located at 3615 Timon Boulevard.  The man demanded Officers give him a ride to the downtown area across the Harbor Bridge.

After Officers determined the man did not have an emergency, they informed him that they would not be giving him any rides.

Within thirty minutes, the man called 911 back three more times making the same demands.

Officers returned to the motel and finally gave the man his wish for a ride across the bridge and took him to the City Detention Center. The caller, Vadim Paul Tikva (09/17/1975), was arrested for making abusive calls to 911, a Class B misdemeanor.

A female was arrested for DWI by Corpus Christi Police after she crashed her Jeep into the back of a parked car in the 1000 block of South Staples Street and then tried to flee the scene.

Officers were flagged down by a witness, who saw a 2015 Jeep Wrangler crash into the back of a parked car, and then leave the scene on South Staples Street.   Officers were able to catch up to the female driver in the Jeep just down the street.

When they stopped the hit and run driver, they determined that she was intoxicated.  Officers arrested Jackie Ybarra (08/23/1970) for fleeing the scene of a crash, and felony driving while intoxicated.

While the Officer was conducting his investigation, the female suspect offered sexual favors in exchange for being released.  Officer’s additionally charged the female with bribery.
