Missing Person Jose Villafranco Rivera Located in San Antonio, TX

 

Detectives with the Missing Person Unit are asking for the public’s assistance in locating 65-year-old Jose Villafranco Rivera.  Jose was last seen by his family on November 1, 2011 at 7:00 pm when he left his home driving his 1985 white Dodge Truck, L.P. 04JYY3. 

The family last spoke to Jose by phone around 8:oo pm that evening and he has not been heard of since.

Jose is a local minister and a retired school teacher here in our area.  He is an insulin dependent diabetic and is on several medications for various illnesses.

If anyone knows where Jose can be located or if you have seen his vehicle we ask you to contact Detective R.L. Garcia  361-886-2850 or call the Corpus Christi Police Department at 361-886-2600.

Thank you for the assistance provided involving Missing Person Jose Villafranco Rivera.  His family has notified the Corpus Christi Police Department’s Missing Person’s Unit of  his whereabouts.  Mr. Villafranco Rivera was found safe just north of San Antonio, TX.

Victim Succumbs From Injuries Sustained in Accident

 Occurred on 11/01/11, 11:45 a.m.   Major Accident   4500 Kostoryz     C1107897

Officers responded to a major accident involving a red 2011 red Chevrolet Malibu which swerved across the oncoming lane of traffic, jumped the curve, and hit an AEP light pole.

The impact sheared the light pole which was held upright by the power lines.  The 50-year-old female driver and her 61-year-old male passenger were both injured.  The passenger was not wearing a seatbelt and sustained severe lacerations to his head.

Both were transported to Spohn Memorial for medical treatment by CCFD Emergency Personnel.

The driver was cited for Failure to Control Speed/Unsafe/Inappropriate Speed, No Driver’s License, and Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility.  The vehicle was impounded.

The Traffic Division reported the passenger died on November 02, 2011 from the injuries he suffered in the collision.  The investigation is ongoing.

K-9 Sniffs Out Two Kilos of Cocaine During Traffic Stop

Occurred on 11/01/11, 8:29 p.m. Possession of a Controlled Substance 6817 SPID 1111010134

Officers T. Potter and E. Cano pulled over a white Ford F-150 for a traffic violation at 6817 S. Padre Island Drive. During the traffic stop Officers found the driver George Gomez Jr. (08/01/79) to be extremely nervous.

After further investigation, Officers requested a K-9 Unit to conduct a free air sniff around the truck. The K-9 Unit alerted on the vehicle.

Upon searching the vehicle approximately two kilos of cocaine were recovered inside a red ice chest.

Gomez was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance. The cocaine has a street value of $50,000.

Halloween Night Accident Results in One Arrest

Occurred on 10/31/11, 8:13 p.m.   Accident /D.W.I.   2100 Ayers     C1107877/1110310129

Officers responded to Ayers and 18th Street for a major accident involving a drunk driver.  Upon their arrival, Officers discovered the driver had fled the accident site and was being chased by witnesses. 

Officers joined the chase and quickly apprehended the driver Samuel Mancillas (01/31/85) who was positively identified as the driver who slammed into the business at 2108 Ayers Street causing extensive damage.

Mancillas appeared to be intoxicated and transported to Spohn Shoreline for injuries sustained in the accident.  A Blood Warrant was obtained and a Blood Specimen taken.  Mancillas was medically cleared and arrested. 

He was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Failure to Control Speed/Unsafe/Inappropriate Speed, Fail to Maintain Financial Responsibility.

Drunk Driver Escapes Serious Injury As She Takes Out Two Light Poles

Occurred on 11/01/11, 2:47 a.m.   Major Accident/DWI   Doddridge Street/Staples Street     C1107884/1111010009          

Officers responded to an accident in which the driver was traveling south bound on Staples Street and lost control of her gold 1998 Ford Taurus.  The vehicle struck two AEP 35′ light poles breaking them in half. 

The driver Kasandra Shea Mondragon (10/29/90) appeared to be intoxicated and administered Standard Field Sobriety Tests.  Further investigation revealed Mondragon had been at a local bar with her boyfriend.

Mondragon sustained minor injuries and transported to Spohn Shoreline by Officers for a Blood Draw.  She was medically cleared and arrested.

Mondragon was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Failure to Control Speed/Unsafe/Inappropriate Speed, No Driver’s License, and Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility.

“Dead Beat Dad” Arrested As He Flees From Police

Occurred on 10/31/11,  10:33 p.m.  Evading in a Vehicle   Delphine Street/Weber Road     1110310154     2233       

Officers pulled over a vehicle which had been swerving in and out of traffic.  The vehicle pulled to a stop, but as the Officers approached the vehicle the driver fled and a pursuit ensued.  

The suspect refused to stop and continued to flee towards the Four Winds Apartment complex where it appeared he was attempting to bail out of the vehicle.  The suspect continued attempting to escape and drove towards SH 358 where he circled back to the complex.

Once back at the complex, the driver bailed out of the vehicle, but he was quickly apprehended after a short foot pursuit.  Further investigation revealed, the driver fled due to being wanted for an outstanding Child Support warrant.

Joseph Daniel Luna (12/01/78) was arrested and charged with Evading Arrest in a Vehicle, Evading Arrest on Foot, and an outstanding warrant #F-3865-02-A out of  McAllen, Texas for Non-Payment of Child Support. 

 

Pedestrian Struck in Baldwin Boulevard Accident Dies from Injuries

Occurred on 10/27/11, 8:24 p.m.   Intoxication Assault   Baldwin     C1107781/1110270151

Officers responded to a major accident involving a pedestrian at Baldwin Boulevard and Cheyenne Street.  Upon their arrival, Officers found the 51-year-old victim had been struck by a maroon 1998 Chevrolet pick-up truck as he crossed the street not at a legal cross walk. 

The victim sustained serious head trauma and transported to Spohn Memorial by CCFD emergency personnel. 

Further investigation revealed the driver Roy Lloyd Goswick (11/01/46) had left a local bar shortly before the accident.  Goswick appeared to be intoxicated and Standard Field Sobriety Tests were performed.  A blood sample was also obtained when he was medically cleared at Spohn Shoreline.  

Goswick was arrested and charged with Intoxication Assault with a Vehicle.  His truck was impounded.

Update:

Traffic Division Captain Vesely reported the pedestrian victim died Monday, October 31, 2011 from the injuries received in the October 27, 2011 accident.

Goswick will now be facing  Intoxication Manslaughter charges.

One Person Tased and Three Arrested During Scuffle

 Occurred on 10/29/11, 11:13 p.m.   Resisting Arrest   705 S. Port     1110290135

An Officer responded  to the Stripes Convenience Store at Port and Mary for an assault with injuries. CCFD emergency personnel were found treating a 55-year-old victim who reported she was assaulted while at Mica’s Bar by an unidentified Hispanic male when she accidentally bumped into him and failed to apologize.   The victim was treated for injuries to her face and released.

Officers were diverted to Mica’s Lounge for a fight at the bar.  An Officer contacted Domingo J. Reyna (04/08/80) inside the bar creating a disturbance and was in the process of escorting him outside when, Emma Villarreal (03/03/88) grabbed the Officer’s arm and tried to prevent his arrest.  When she was unable to do so, Martha Villarreal (12/17/55)  also interfered trying to step between the Officer and Reyna.

The Officer finally escorted Reyna out of the bar, but as he attempted to handcuff the suspect a struggle ensued in which the suspect attempted to flee with the assistance of Emma and Martha Villarreal.   Reyna was tased and handcuffed.  All three were arrested.

Reyna was charged with Resisting Arrest, Search or Transport and an outstanding warrant.  He was additionally charged with Possession of Marijuana when  a small quantity was found on his person.

Emma Marie Villarreal and Martha Villarreal were both charged with Interference with Public Duties.

Officers were unable to locate the suspect involved in the original assault .  The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 40 to 45 years of age, 5’5″ to 5’10”  feet tall, and weighing 200 lbs.

Motorcyclist Involved in Fatal Accident

Occurred on 10/30/11, 3:19 a.m.   Major Accident   2800 Laguna Shores     C1107845

Officers responded to an accident involving a motorcyclist who failed to negotiate the curve at 2800 Laguna Shores.  The 28-year-old driver of a 1999 Suzuki Colt left the roadway and struck a mailbox.

The driver was deceased at the scene.  Traffic Division Officers  are investigating the fatal accident.

Birthday Party Turns Violent, One Person Shot and Two Arrested

Occurred on 10/29/11, 2:30 a.m. Aggravated Assault. 2537 Milo Street. 1110290019

Officers responded to Spohn Memorial for a walk-in shooting victim who was being treated for a gunshot wound to the right buttock. The 29-year-old victim reported to Officers he was at a birthday celebration at 2537 Milo when he became involved in an argument with another male at the party.

The argument escalated into a fight in which the suspect pulled a gun and pointed it at the victim. The victim turned to flee and was shot in the backside. A female friend of the victim drove him to the hospital.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 25 to 30 years of age, 5’8 to 5’10” feet tall and weighing 160 to 180 lbs. No clothing description available at this time.

Officers continued their investigation and and contacted several individuals at the party. Amanda Flores (03/28/78) and Roberta Denise Zapata (08/24/81) were arrested and charged with outstanding warrants. Zapata had an outstanding Nueces County warrant, while Flores had two outstanding Municipal Court warrants.
