CCPD Narcotic Investigators Deliver Early Wake Up Call, One Male Arrested

Early this morning, Officers with the Corpus Christi Police Department Narcotics & Vice Investigation Division served a warrant at 110 ½ Osage Street as part of an ongoing investigation for the sale of Heroin. 

Officers seized a small quantity of heroin and arrested Raynaldo Soliz (06/26/43) who was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance.

This week our Most Wanted Gang Member of the Week is  Ubaldo Ramirez (09/18/81) who is wanted for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Violation of Bond Conditions for Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Violation of Bond Conditions/Failure to Appear for Evading Arrest in a Vehicle.   There is No Bond on the outstanding warrants.

Man Who Points Out Hit & Run Driver Gets Arrested and Driver Released

A 25-year-old man was arrested Sunday afternoon after he pointed out the driver who made a failed attempt to hide from a hit and run crash. Police Officers were called to Starr Street and North Shoreline at about 1:30pm for a crash report in which a 2005 Chevy pickup left without providing information as required.

Officers located the smashed truck parked and unoccupied in a nearby parking garage and the officers directly searched for the driver. The officers located two men seated together at a picnic table on the third level of the parking garage. One of the men immediately pointed and told the officers the other man was the driver. The man who pointed out the driver then attempted to leave against the officer’s direction and then pushed an officer in an attempt to leave. The officers believed the man was a passenger in the crashed vehicle and restrained the man. The officers then located an amount of marijuana and a controlled substance in the man’s pockets.

Kenneth Mowles (1/3/1987) was arrested for Possession of a controlled substance, Possession of Marijuana, and Resisting arrest or Detention. Mowles was taken to Spohn Memorial Hospital for a precautionary medical check because he was involved in the vehicle crash and then Mr. Mowles was taken to the city detention center. The second man who was identified as the driver was issued several traffic citations and released.

Impatience in Drive-Thru Earns Driver Trip to Jail

A Patrol Lieutenant and two officers dining at a fast food restaurant were alerted by employees to an SUV in the drive-thru that was disrupting business.  The driver, according to the employees, was sounding his horn excessively while waiting for his food order.  The officers walked outside and spotted a Chevy Tahoe in the drive-thru , and noticed that the driver was continuing to honk the vehicle’s horn while approaching the drive-thu window. Officers contacted the driver,  Carlos Perez (DOB:11-9-1979), and had him step from the vehicle.  During an officer safety search, officers recovered an illegal switch-blade knife from Perez’s back right pants pocket.  Officers observed that Perez appeared to be intoxicated and administered field sobriety tests.   Perez was subsequently arrested for DWI and possession of a prohibited weapon and booked at the City Detention Center.

Couple’s Trip to Store Ends in Carjacking

Officers contacted a 45-year-old victim who reported she was waiting for her husband who was inside the Hacienda Meat Market when she was forced out of their truck.

The victim who was uninjured described the suspect as a White male in his 20’s wearing a black hooded jacket.  The male drove off in the victim’s brown 1989 GMC pick-up truck.  The stolen truck has a Plexiglas covering the driver’s side window and a logo of a wolf head covering the back window.

Further investigation revealed the suspect had been in a nearby pawn shop just prior to the robbery.  The business assisted in the investigation and provided a copy of the surveillance video.  Detectives are asking the public’s assistance in identyfying this suspect.

Copper Theft Thief Damages Newly Built Home

A contractor working on the new home reported to Officers the wire had been removed from the house.

The newly constructed home’s copper wiring was valued at $2,500 .  There is no suspect description available, but the suspect did forget to take the saw used to cut the wiring.

Burglar Targets 100 Year Old Church

A church building that is over one hundred years old was the target of an overnight burglary Monday morning. Corpus Christi Police were called to the Family First Church Monday morning at about 9:30am after nearly $10,000 worth of property was discovered missing from the building. The pastor of the church said that an unknown person broke a window to force entry into the building overnight.

The church pastor said that music and computer equipment were taken from inside the building. The church pastor said those he services at the church are low-income families and do not provide cash donations. The items stolen in this event were donated items from the low-income families that are unable to provide other means of offering to the church.

Neighbors Fight Over Death of Cat

Officers contacted several individuals involved in a fight over the death of the 35-year-old victim’s cat.    The victim told Officers he was notified by his girlfriend his cat had been killed by his neighbor’s dog.

When the victim spoke to his neighbor about the attack he was assaulted by three Hispanic males who were armed with a tire iron and a pipe.  The victim suffered minor injuries during the assault. 

The victim’s son who tried to stop the attack and was struck in the back of the head sustaining a laceration.  Both were taken to Spohn Memorial by CCFD Emergency Personnel for medical treatment.

The first suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 28 to 29 years of age, 6’3″ feet tall and weighing 200 lbs.  The second suspect is described as a 30 to 40-year-old Hispanic male, while the third suspect is described only as a Hispanic male.

13 Vehicles Had Tires Cut at Night Club

                Thirteen vehicles had the tires cut by a knife in the parking lot of a night club on Baldwin resulting in damages that were estimated at over $2,800. Corpus Christi Police were called to the night club for criminal mischief and the witnesses described a single man responsible for the damage. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male that wore a dark sweater, black jeans, and was last seen walking east on Baldwin. One victim of the damage said the suspect had asked for fifty cents and became irritated when the request was refused.

Definitely a Wrong Place to Commit a Crime

Lt. A. Sanders was in the parking lot of Most Precious Blood when he heard several shots fired from a silver Pontiac Grand Am as it slowly drove by.  Officers assisted him in stopping the vehicle at Frederick and SH 286 access. 

The driver Mario Omar Rivera (04/02/79) was arrested after a firearm was found underneath the driver’s seat.  His passenger Brittany Gail Wheeler (03/03/89) who appeared to be intoxicated was also arrested.

Rivera was charged with Discharging a Firearm in Certain Municipalities and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon. Wheeler was charged with Public Intoxication.
