Man Strikes Two Houses With Truck, Then Arrested For D.W.I.

A 25-year-old man was arrested Friday night for Driving While Intoxicated after he drove recklessly and struck two houses at 7:40pm on the 900 block of Flour Bluff Drive.

The 25-year-old man drove a green 1999 Dodge Ram pickup at excessive speeds through neighborhood streets and skidded circles in a field. The pickup went through a stop sign at Matlock and Flour Bluff Drive, left the roadway, and then crashed into a fence and into a two duplex apartments.

Corpus Christi Police Officers checked 25-year-old DeeJay Arnold (10/24/1987) and discovered indications that Arnold was intoxicated. Arnold was taken to the hospital for  a medical evaluation and to collect a blood specimen. Arnold was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, Operating a vehicle as an unlicensed driver, and for Fail to Maintain Proof of Financial Responsibility. Arnold was the delivered to the city detention center.

Police Arrest Drunk Driver In Active School Zone On Encatada Avenue

A 39-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday afternoon for Driving While Intoxicated in an active school zone on the 14200 block of Encantada Avenue.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer conducted speed enforcement at 2:30 in the afternoon on Wednesday and saw a black 2008 Chevy Equinox travel 25 miles per hour in the 15 mile per hour active school zone. The officer conducted a traffic stop and discovered the operator of the Equinox, 39-year-old Amy Woods (11/7/1973) was intoxicated.

Woods was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and the Equinox was taken to the city impound lot. Woods was charged with Driving While Intoxicated with a blood alcohol concentration over .15 which is a Class A misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail and up to a $4,000 fine.

Police Investigate Hit & Run Vehicle Crash with Bicyclist on Ocean Drive

The Corpus Christi Police Department Traffic Safety Division is investigating a hit and run crash in which a bicyclist was struck from behind by a vehicle Saturday morning on the 3400 block of Ocean Drive.

A 60-year-old man traveled south on the bike lane of the 3400 block of Ocean Drive at about 7:00am Saturday morning. A vehicle struck the 60-year-old man from behind and then left without providing any aid or information as required by law.

The 60-year-old man was taken to the hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.

Corpus Christi Police Crash Investigators collected evidence from the scene and are now searching for a silver 2012 Ford Focus with damage to the front right of the vehicle.

Two Men Hospitalized With Serious Injuries After Vehicle Crash On Everhart at Oso Parkway

Two men were taken to the hospital with serious injuries Sunday night after a vehicle crash at Everhart Road and Oso Parkway.

The 26-year-old driver and the 31-year-old passenger left the Port Aransas beach in a white 2006 Chevy truck and were in a single vehicle crash at about 10:00pm Sunday night. Corpus Christi Police found the truck upside down and the two men outside the truck. The 31-year-old passenger was not responsive. Both men were taken to the hospital by ambulance for medical treatment.

Corpus Christi Police Crash Investigators discovered a gun, marijuana, and cash in the truck as they worked the incident. The crash investigators also believe alcohol was a contributing factor to the crash. The 26-year-old operator of the truck and the 31-year-old passenger remain at the hospital for medical treatment. Corpus Christi Police may apply criminal charges at a later time which include an Intoxication Assault charge against the 26-year-old operator of the truck.

Police Arrest Man For Hit & Run Crash on Ayers

Corpus Christi Police Traffic Detectives arrested 39-year-old Eric Daniel Acevedo (7/28/1973) Wednesday afternoon at his place of employment for a warrant for the arrest of Acevedo for a hit and run crash on Ayers Street on March 3, 2013.

Corpus Christi Police Commander John Houston said three detectives were assigned to work the case day and night until the suspect was apprehended. Acevedo was arrested for the charge of Accident Involving Injury or Death and the bond for Acevedo was set by the judge for $1 million dollars.

The Texas Transportation Code section 550.023 requires an operator of a vehicle to stop and render aid to an injured person when they are involved in a vehicle crash. Acevedo is accused of failing to comply with the duty to stop and render aid in relation to the crash on March 3, 2013 on the 4600 block of Ayers Street.

Although an arrest has been made in this case, Police Detectives encourage anyone with any additional information about this event to provide that information to the Corpus Christi Police Traffic Safety Section.

Police Seek Vehicle That Struck 17 Year Old Pedestrian on Ayers Street

                A 17 year old pedestrian was seriously injured Sunday morning after a hit and run crash at the 4600 block of Ayers Street.

Corpus Christi Police responded to an injured person at the 4600 block of Ayers at 2:11am Sunday morning and discovered a 17 year old man with significant head trauma. The responding police officers believe the 17 year old was struck by a vehicle which caused the injuries.

The responding police officers identified a witness to the event and are gathering information to identify the person responsible for this vehicle crash with the pedestrian. Corpus Christi Police Crash Investigators are searching for a maroon Toyota Tacoma manufactured between 2006 and 2008 with front end damage which may have been involved in this crash.

Road Work to Affect Morgan Avenue Traffic

The City of Corpus Christi Traffic Engineering office advises citizens on Wednesday, February 20 and Thursday, February 21, 2013; weather permitting; crews will be conducting emergency utility work at the intersection of Morgan Avenue and Baylor Street.  During this time, Morgan Avenue westbound traffic will be reduced to one lane through the work area.  The center turning lane will be closed to traffic and no left turns will be permitted onto eastbound Morgan Avenue from Baylor Street.

Traffic control devices will guide motorists through the construction site.  While the work is underway, motorists should expect delays and if possible, seek alternate routes.  Motorists are also advised to observe all construction warning signs and barricades for their safety and that of construction crews.   Access to local driveways will be maintained throughout the duration of the project.

The City of Corpus Christi Traffic Engineering office advises motorists, Monday, February 18 and Tuesday. February 19, 2013, weather permitting; contractors will perform field investigations and roadway testing on southbound Shoreline Boulevard between Park Avenue and Kinney Street.  During this time, southbound Shoreline Boulevard traffic will be periodically reduced to one lane.  Work is scheduled from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 a.m.

Traffic control devices will guide drivers through the construction site.  While the work is underway, citizens should expect delays and if possible seek alternate routes to avoid the area.  Motorists are also advised to observe all construction warning signs and barricades for their safety and that of construction crews.  Access to local driveways will be maintained throughout the duration of the project.

The City of Corpus Christi Traffic Engineering office advises citizens, Monday, February 18 and for approximately one week, weather permitting; contractors will perform field investigations and roadway testing on both eastbound and westbound Horne Road between Port Avenue and Ayers Street.  During this time, Horne Road traffic will be periodically reduced to one lane.  Work is scheduled from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Traffic control devices will guide motorists through the construction site.  While the work is underway, drivers should expect delays and seek alternate routes to avoid the area.  Citizens are also advised to observe all construction warning signs and barricades for their safety and that of construction crews.  Access to local driveways will be maintained throughout the duration of the project.

The City of Corpus Christi Traffic Engineering office advises citizens beginning Thursday, February 14 through Friday, March 8, 2013; weather permitting, contractors will install a utility waterline on Morgan Avenue from Port Avenue to 25th Street.   During this period, westbound Morgan Avenue traffic will be periodically reduced to one lane of traffic through the work area.

Traffic control devices will guide motorists through the construction site.  While the work is underway, motorists should expect delays and if possible are advised to seek alternate routes to avoid the area.  Motorists should observe all construction warning signs and barricades for their safety and that of construction crews.  Access to local driveways will be maintained throughout the duration of the project.
