Woman Charged in Death of Pedestrian

Corpus Christi Hit and Run Investigators advised the female responsible for running over a 39-year-old man on May 29, 2012 has been charged in his death.  Early that Tuesday morning, the victim and his brother were walking eastbound in the 10300 block of IH 37 when he was struck.  The driver fled the scene.

Hit and Run Investigators following up on tips were able to obtain an arrest warrant for Tabatha Elliott (08/22/79) yesterday afternoon. Elliott who had previously been questioned by investigators and arrested on an unrelated outstanding warrant on May 29, 2012.  At approximately 4:44 pm, she was booked at the City Detention Center for a Motion to Revoke Probation warrant out of Brenham, TX. 

Elliott was additionally charged with Accident Involving Injury or Death is a Third Degree Felony and is punishable up to 10 years and a $10,000 fine. Her bond was set at $175,000.  Hit and Run Investigator D. Schwartz advises, “to get a ride or cab if drinking. There is nothing worse in police work than to notify a family member that their loved one has been killed or injured.”
