Occurred on 7/2/12, 10:12 p.m. Robbery 3302 Baldwin 1207020182 Stripes Convenience Store employees called Police and reported a theft of beer in which a clerk was assaulted. Employees told Officers a beer thief visits the store on a regular basis and steals several 12-packs of beer. This evening store employees worked out a plan and kept the thief Ricardo Gonzalez (12/10/65) inside the store.
Gonzalez was able to escape and assaulted a 17-year-old clerk in retaliation. Gonzalez then ran from the store towards a business nearby. Patrol Officers along with K9 Officer L. Preiss and his partner “Kimbo” arrived and began to search the area. “Kimbo” led Officers to the front door of 525 Osage where the homeowner provided information on brother, Ricardo Gonzalez.
Gonzalez’ family was very helpful in turning him over to Officers. Both clerks positively identified Gonzalez when he was returned to the store. Gonzalez was arrested and charged with Robbery, Parole Violation, and Failure to Identify as a Fugitive when he refused to tell Officers his name.
