Occurred on 8/25/12 11:11 p.m.  Major Accident/Fatality    5200 Staples Street   C1206445

Police and Traffic investigators were called to investigate a fatal major accident in which the driver appeared to have passed out as he drove through the intersection of Staples and Williams Streets. 

The grey Buick Century continued on striking several barrels and came to rest against a light pole.  The 71–year-old driver who appeared to have a medical condition was taken to Bay Area Hospital where he died.  A 27–year-old passenger was taken to Spohn Shoreline with chest pains.  The accident investigation is ongoing and being conducted by the Traffic Division.
