At about 2:39pm, Senior Officer E. Soliz contacted Family Dollar store employees at 4022 Weber who reported a man and a woman tried to buy several items with counterfeit $20 bills. Store employees told Police the female made a call from her cell phone and complained about the counterfeit money, demanding her money back. When told the store would be keeping the money, the duo left the store.
As the Officer was leaving the store, another call was received in which the same suspect were involved in another counterfeit attempt at the Stripes Convenience Store, 4444 Weber Road. Store employees told Police a woman attempted to pay for gas and a pack of cigarettes with counterfeit $20 bills. When told the money was forged, the woman paid for the cigarettes and the two left in a blue Tahoe.
A B.O.L.O. (Be On the Look Out) was issued for the suspects and their vehicle. Shortly thereafter, Senior Officer W.C. Oliver observed the suspects at the Wal-Mart located at 4109 S. Staples. Apryl Morris (04/09/91) and Cody Perez (06/10/89) were arrested after they were positively identified by witnesses. Both were charged with Forgery of Government Instrument or Money which is a Second Degree Felony punishable by up to 20 years and a $10,000 fine.
Lt. T. Brown states, “This was an outstanding job by all officers involved, great team work; however, Senior Officer Oliver is commended for his outstanding vigilance and observation in locating the suspect vehicle and suspects.”
