Twenty Three Animal Carcasses Recovered From Residence

Twenty Three Animal Carcasses Recovered from Corpus Christi Residence

On 08/16, CCACS Animal Control Officers recovered approximately 23 animal carcasses from a home on Poenisch Drive. Animal Control Officers were first alerted to the home on 08/15/2013 by CCPD Officers. The last time CCACS had been called to the home was in 2010. The home appeared to be uninhabited by people, however it is believed that the occupant may have been elderly and placed in a nursing home. Animal Control Officers obtained a warrant to enter the home and found the carcasses of what is believed to be cats. A formal analysis of the bones will be performed by CCACS Veterinarian, Melissa Draper, DVM. CCACS is actively investigating the case as Cruelty against Animals, section 42.092 Texas Penal Code.
