Patrol Report August 22, 2014

The Corpus Christi Police Department generated 229 reports for formal criminal complaints from midnight August 21 to 7:00 a.m. on .August 22, 2014. These are samples of the criminal complaints filed by the Corpus Christi Police for that time period.

“Adam” District

Location: 1400 Cliff Maus Drive
Offense:  Burglary of Building                    (PC 30.02       State Jail Felony)

Case Number: 1408210032
An employee at a business located in the 1400 block of Cliff Maus Drive told Corpus Christi Police that sometime around 11:40 PM on August 20, a suspect drove up to the front gate and cut the lock. Once on the property, the suspect went to the garage and attempted to cut the padlock to the door.  After failing to cut the lock the suspect left the property only to return later that night at about 2:15 AM, on August 21.  The suspect then removed a pick ax from one of the parked company trucks on the property and used it to pry open the garage door enough to gain entry.  The suspect stole five grass trimmers, a pole saw and a hedge trimmer. The total damage done and price of the equipment stolen was valued at over $3,500.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a call about three males inside the fenced in area of a business located in the 4000 block of Baldwin Blvd. Officers arrived and saw three males run to the opposite side of the property and jump the fence.  Officers located Ruben Delacruz (01/01/1997) hiding under a bush after he attempted to flee into the nearby neighborhood and took him into custody.  The other two suspects were not found after they fled on foot from the scene. Officers discovered that the suspects had cut a hole in the chain link fence with a bolt cutter and broke into four vehicles parked on the property and stole items inside.  The manager for the business told officers that the damage to the fence was valued at $1,500. The stolen property taken from the vehicles was returned. The suspect caught was charged with burglary to vehicle and evading arrest, both Class A misdemeanors, and he was also found to have marijuana in his front pants pocket and additionally charged with possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor. Due to the amount of damage done to the fence, the suspect was also charged with criminal mischief, a state jail felony.

A 35 year old male victim called Corpus Christi Police after his ex-wife and another female family member of hers came to his apartment complex and destroyed his truck and assaulted him. The male victim told officers he was asleep and kept getting text massages form his ex-wife threatening to damage his 2012 black Chevrolet truck.   The ex-wife finally called him and said she was downstairs in the parking lot by his truck.  When he went to check he saw the ex-wife had a tire tool and she began to break the head lights and beat on the hood.  When he went to stop her, they all three became involved in a physical altercation. The victim received a small cut to his right leg, a bruise to the right side of his face and other small scratches, however, he refused medical treatment. Both women were arrested. Consuelo F. Caceres (11/12/1979) was charged with assault, a Class A misdemeanor, and the ex-wife, Janelle Salas (01/31/1980) was charged with assault, a Class A misdemeanor and criminal mischief, a state jail felony. The ex-wife was also found to have two outstanding warrants for her arrest. The male said that the damage to his truck was estimated to be about $2,000.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to a home located in the 3100 block of Rodd Field Road after a trailer that was being towed came unhitched and crashed into a home causing significant damage. A 56 year old male was driving his 2003 Ford F350 truck south on Rodd Field Road towing his 2005 Flatbed trailer when it became detached. The trailer continued to travel south, then left the roadway, and crashed into a house located on the west side of the street.  There were no injuries in the vehicle, or in the house, but the home suffered damage estimated to be over $10,000.  The driver of the truck was given a citation for defective equipment after the safety chains on the trailer were found to be defective. The driver did have liability insurance on his truck and trailer.

Offense:  Aggravated Robbery        (PC 29.03       First Degree Felony)

A female clerk at a convenience store located in the 2000 block of Morgan Ave. reported to the Corpus Christi Police that she had been threatened with a gun. The clerk told officers that four people were together inside the store acting suspicious.  One of the males in the group returned to the vehicle, while the others remained inside the store. The clerk went outside and approached the male because she believed a theft had occurred, due to the bulge that she saw in his pockets. The clerk asked the male what was in his pockets and at that time he pulled out a handgun. The clerk quickly returned back inside the store and called police and gave a description of the car he was in.  Prior to police arrival the suspect left in the 2000 black Mitsubishi with his friends.  Officers responding to the call located the car at the intersection of Agnes St. and Nineteenth St. A chrome 9 MM pistol was recovered from the glove box and Johnny M. Nino (11/18/1989) was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery, a first degree felony.
