Patrol Report August 25, 2014

The Corpus Christi Police Department generated 209 reports for formal criminal complaints from midnight August 24 to 7:00 a.m. on August 25, 2014. These are samples of the criminal complaints filed by the Corpus Christi Police for that time period.

“Charlie” District

Location: South Padre Island Drive / Weber Road
Offense:  Driving While Intoxicated                        (PC49.04        Class B Misdemeanor)

Case Number: 1408250023
Corpus Christi Police responded to a major accident at S. Padre Island Dr. West Access and Weber Rd. Upon arrival officers found one of the vehicles involved on fire. One of the drivers involved was identified as Amy Jimenez (07/23/1990) and she was found sitting in a nearby parking lot. Witnesses told officers that she was driving a red Lincoln MKZ sedan west along the access road and ran a red light and struck a 2009 black Toyota Corolla going north on Weber Rd. After the collision the red car caught fire. The female driver was found to be intoxicated and she was arrested, and charged with driving while intoxicated, a Class B misdemeanor.   The 29 year old female driving the black Toyota was taken to Spohn MMC by CCFD EMS and treated for minor injuries.

Location: 4400 Sutton Lane
Offense:  Hit and Run Crash                       (TC 550.0022             Class B Misdemeanor)

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to the 4400 block of Sutton Lane after a 2008 Dodge Avenger sedan crashed into the garage portion of the home.  The investigation found that the car failed to negotiate the curve at Wedgewood St. and traveled into the front yard at 4434 Sutton Lane. The vehicle continued on and struck a parked vehicle in the driveway, the garage door and a vehicle that was parked in the garage.  The driver fled the scene prior to police arrival leaving the car at the scene.  Corpus Christi Police Traffic Officers are still investigating this hit and run case and at this time no arrests have been made.

Offense:  Driving While Intoxicated                        (PC49.04        Class B Misdemeanor)

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a hit and run crash at a business located at 4344 S. Padre Island Dr. Officers found a black Ford Expedition in the U-Haul parking lot on top of a small trailer. There was also a telephone pole cracked in two and it was lying on the ground. The pole had two transformer boxes that had also come down. The driver had fled the scene and left the car behind.  While officers were investigating this crash, a female approached them and said the vehicle belonged to her and that her ex-boyfriend was driving the vehicle. Officers went to his home on Blundell St. and found Dave Mesa (09/03/1992) there, and they determined he was intoxicated and arrested for driving while intoxicated, a Class B misdemeanor. AEP work crews responded to the scene and they estimated the value of the telephone pole and two transformers to be nearly $10,000. The estimated value of damage done to the U-Haul trailer was another $10,000.

Offense:  Driving While Intoxicated / Third           (PC49.04        Third Degree Felony)

A Corpus Christi Police Officer on patrol in the 1100 block of Ayers Street observed a black Dodge Ram pickup stopped in the crosswalk at Ayers St. and S Staples St., the 6 Points Intersection.   The truck then failed to signal a turn and was stopped.  Officers contacted Robert Delorme (01/16/1963) was found to be intoxicated and he was arrested for driving while intoxicated, a third degree felony.

Location: 1600 North Shoreline Blvd.
Offense:  Racing On Highway         (TC 545.420   Class B Misdemeanor)

A Corpus Christi Police Officer that was parked on Shoreline Blvd. heard the loud revving of engines coming from the area of 1600 N. Shoreline the Barge Dock.  The officer pulled into the area and observed a black Honda Civic and a white Dodge Challenger at the far north end of the barge dock. Both vehicles were side by side and appeared to take off at the same time at a high rate of speed. It was apparent that the drivers were operating their vehicles in such a fashion that they were attempting to outgain the other. Taylor Latham (10/13/1990) was identified as the driver of the black car and the white car was driven by Garrett Garafola (06/27/1995). Both drivers were arrested for racing, a class B misdemeanor, and their cars were impounded.
