Corpus Christi Police responded to a Stripes Store located at 9602 S. Padre Island Drive after the store clerk took a fake ten dollar bill from a customer.

The cashier told officers that a man passed her a ten dollar bill to pay for items at the register.  The cashier saw no hologram on the bill and when she tested it with a counterfeit detector pen the bill was confirmed to be fake.

The clerk called the police and told the man if he wanted the bill back that he would have to file a police report. The suspect waited for police and when they arrived they arrested Thomas L. Genter (08/21/1986) for forgery, a third degree felony offense.

At the city detention center two more counterfeit ten dollar bills were found under the sole of the suspect’s right shoe.
