Patrol Report 02/19/2015

The Corpus Christi Police Department generated 171 reports for formal criminal complaints from midnight February 18 to 7:00 a.m. on February 19, 2015. These are samples of the criminal complaints filed by the Corpus Christi Police for that time period.

 

“BRAVO” District

Offense: Aggravated Robbery

Case Number: 1502190021
A 30 year old man called Corpus Christi Police after he was assaulted and shot at by three men in the parking lot of an apartment complex located at 5701 Saratoga Boulevard.

The victim had a chipped tooth from where the suspects had hit him in the mouth with the butt of a pistol while he was sitting in a car with several other males. The victim said there was a dispute with a 23 year old male that he knows over a car title.  The victim told officers that he was held from behind while he sat in the front seat by two other males, he did not know, sitting in the back seat. After he was hit in the mouth with the gun, the suspect in the driver’s seat fired a shot from a handgun at him but missed.  The round struck a parked truck next to them. The victim was able to get out of the vehicle and hide until officers arrived.

Officers at the scene recovered a 9 millimeter caliber handgun they believe the suspect used in the parking lot. They believe the suspect may have tossed the weapon because it jammed and would not fire. The suspects all fled in a white Chevrolet Cavalier with the victim’s wallet.

The victim was able to give officers the name of the suspect that fired the gun at him however he was not located. He was treated at the scene by CCFD EMS for minor injuries.

Officers continue to investigate this case and no arrests have been made.

A 44 year old female bar manager of the Midway Bar, located at 4650 Kostoryz Road, called Corpus Christi Police after a customer pointed a gun at her.

The manager told officers that the man was in the bar bothering a female customer and she told him to stop. This angered the man and he left the bar.  About an hour later the man returned with a gun and he was sitting in his car.  When the manager walked out to the bar patio, the man pointed the gun at her and he called her a name.  The manager said as he was leaving the parking lot he fired a shot in the air.

Officers responded to investigate, and after they had left, the suspect returned again.  This time pulling into the parking lot and driving very slowly around it.  Officers were still in the area, and stopped the vehicle and took the male, Elpidio Cantu (03/12/1953), into custody and they recovered a handgun under the front passenger seat of his vehicle.

After an investigation, officers determined the suspect was also intoxicated. In addition to the aggravated assault charge, he was also arrested for driving while intoxicated.

A 27 year old female called Corpus Christi Police after her estranged husband rammed the car she was driving on Saratoga Boulevard.

The female told officers that she and her two small children were driving west on Saratoga Boulevard near S. Staples St. when she heard a honk. She saw his car one lane over next to her, and he was yelling for her to pull over.   When she didn’t he got behind her and hit her vehicle from behind.

Another motorist saw the disturbance and cut off his vehicle and got in between their cars. She and the other motorist both pulled into a church parking lot and called the police.

Officers arrived and while investigating this call, the female received several threatening cell phone calls from the suspect that they overheard.

Officers went to the suspects last known address and found him and his damaged car there.  Officers arrested, Martin Silva (08/15/1987), for aggravated assault, for intentionally ramming his car into the victim.  He was additionally charged with harassment, a Class B misdemeanor, for making constant annoying calls the female.

 

 

“DELTA” District

Offense: Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle

A 42 year old man called Corpus Christi Police after his truck was stolen out of his driveway in the 200 block of Southern Street.

Officers contacted the man who told them that he came out of his home and started his 2011 Ford F350 truck and then went back inside to check on his children. About ten minutes later he came back out and found his truck had been stolen.

A short time later officers received a call for a one car crash at Seaside Memorial Park in the 300 block of Robert Drive.  The stolen vehicle was located abandoned at the cemetery after the driver fled the scene.

The crash investigation revealed that the stolen truck was traveling south on Robert Drive when it left the roadway and struck a chain link fence, some bushes and a light pole.  The estimated damage to the light pole that is owned by AEP was $3000.  The damage to the chain fence owned by Seaside was estimated to be $300.

The suspect was not located, and at this time no one has been arrested for this crime.
