“CHARLIE” District

A 45 year old man walked to a nearby restaurant and called Corpus Christi Police after his estranged wife stabbed him in the back.

Officers arrived and were told by the male victim that he and his ex-wife were arguing over money, inside their apartment at 802 Barry Street, and when he attempted to leave, the female stabbed him with a kitchen knife.

The man was able to walk to the Whataburger restaurant located around the corner from his apartment and call police.

Officers went back to the apartment and located the female, Latoya Brinkley (06/04/1978), and arrested her for aggravated assault.

The male victim was transported to Spohn Memorial Hospital with injuries not believed to be life threatening.

The report of a man down led Corpus Christi Police to a fugitive and a person that had just broke into a residence.

Officers arrived at the Cole Park Amphitheater, located in the 1500 block of Ocean Drive, and found a male face down and passed out.

Beside the man was a set of silver spoons, silver knifes, gold coins, and a suit case.  The man admitted to using drugs earlier in the day and claimed that he was not  injured.  The man gave officers a fictitious name, in an attempt to hide from them outstanding arrest warrants he had issued for him.

The property located near the male suspect was determined to be from a burglary that had occurred in the 100 block of Naples Street earlier in the day.

Officers arrested the male suspect, Christopher Valerio (07/25/1983).  He was charged with burglary, and failure to identify.  He was additionally charged after it was confirmed that he had several outstanding arrest warrants.  One was for burglary out of Florida for burglary.
