“ADAM” District

Offense: Injured Child

A woman who was rushing a mother and her child to the hospital called Corpus Christi Police after her car overheated.  The woman  was driving the three to the hospital after the child had burned his stomach.

The woman, the child’s 23 year old mother, and the 5 year old boy were all eating dinner at the woman’s home located in the 9100 block of Agnes Street.  They said that the child was in another room, playing with a lighter, when he set his shirt on fire.

The two women were able to put the fire out.  They then observed that the boy had suffered serious burns to his stomach. All three loaded up in the woman’s car and were on their way to Driscoll Children’s Hospital when the car overheated near Louisiana Parkway.

The mother then called 911 to get assistance.  CCFD EMS transported the child the remainder of the way to the hospital.

Medical staff informed officers that due to the child’s burns, he was being transferred to a burn center in Galveston, Texas.

Officers do not expect to file any criminal charges in this case.

A pharmacy technician called Corpus Christi Police after a man came into the Walgreen’s Store, located at 4161 South Staples Street, with a fake prescription for drugs.

The technician noticed that the male suspect, who came to the counter, had a prescription for Ibuprofen.  The pharmacy had been informed earlier that a set of prescriptions had been stolen from a local doctor.  The technician observed that the prescription the man presented was from the set reported stolen.

When officers arrived, the man had already left, but were told that the technician had informed him that the prescription would be filled in about thirty minutes.  The officers returned to the store, when the man showed up to pick up the pills and arrested, Raynaldo Tamayo Jr. (01/02/1982).

Offense: Driving While Intoxicated
P.C. 49.04       Class A Misdemeanor

Corpus Christi Police responded to a one car crash along the Crosstown Freeway access road near Carolyn Drive.

The crash investigation revealed that the driver of a 2004 Nissan two door car was traveling the wrong direction in the north bound lanes of the access road.

The driver lost control of his vehicle striking the curb on the west side of the road.  The vehicle crashed into a street sign and chain link fence at 2226 Carolyn Drive.

After an investigation officers determined that the driver, Craig Foster (10/17/1990), was intoxicated.  He was treated at Spohn Shoreline Hospital for minor injuries and then arrested for driving while intoxicated.

Damage to property at the home on Carolyn Drive was estimated to be nearly $750.
