Patrol Report 07/08/2015

The Corpus Christi Police Department responded to 901 calls for service and generated 204 reports for formal criminal complaints from 7:00 a.m. July 7 to 7:00 a.m. on July 8, 2015. These are samples of the criminal complaints filed by the Corpus Christi Police for that time period.

“BRAVO” District

A 18 year old female victim called Corpus Christi Police after another female jumped into her car and attempted to take it from her.

The female victim told Officers that she was driving on Sandy Oaks Drive when she stopped at the stop sign at Waldron Road.  The female suspect approached her 2006 Dodge Charger on the passenger side and knocked on the window.  When the victim rolled the window down, the suspect reached inside, unlocked the door and got inside.

The suspect told the victim to drive her to Yorktown Road.    The victim reluctantly began to drive her there and the suspect told her she was going to take her car.

When they arrived, the suspect reached over and pulled the victims hair and attempted to get the keys out of the ignition.  The victim told Officers that she fought back and was able to physically push the female suspect out of her car.

Officers responded to the area where the suspect was last seen and saw her walking north on Waldron Road.  The female suspect, Meagan Chapman (03/23/1989), was arrested for robbery.

The victim was not seriously injured during the attack.

A female who crashed into a Corpus Christi Police Officer on patrol, found herself in jail after police found her in possession of other peoples identification.

The female, Sandra Lee Vasquez (09/03/1975), was driving her 2004 Chevrolet Malibu south on Carroll Lane when she turned right on a red light into the outside lane of Holly Road.  The police unit was traveling west, on Holly Road, in the outside lane and when the female crossed both lanes, she struck the patrol car on the back passenger side.  There was only minor damage to both vehicles.

While Officers were investigating this crash, they were informed that the female had a suspended driver’s license.  She was then arrested for driving with a suspended license.

When Officers went to impound her car, they found a backpack behind the driver seat.  Inside there were numerous identifying documents that had names that did not match, along with items belonging to the female.

Officers found a social security card, three bank debits cards, a gas card, a driver’s license and two student identification cards all belonging to other individuals. Two of which had made reports to the police reporting the debit cards had been stolen.

Ms. Vasquez was taken into custody for having the suspended drivers license, and she was additionally charged with possession of fraudulent identification, a felony offense.

A 58 year old man got into a disturbance with a man who lives next door to him after the neighbor walked over and smashed out the windshield of his vehicle.

The victim told Officers that he was watching television inside his home, located in the 4000 block of Panama Drive, when he heard banging noises outside. When he went outside to investigate he saw his neighbor with a stick hitting the windshield of his Chevrolet Tahoe.  The victim warned the man to leave his property and he did, but then he returned a few minutes later armed with a handgun.

The neighbor pointed the handgun at the victim from the front yard and he made verbal threats to kill the victim who was standing on his porch.   The neighbor left with the weapon and walked back inside his home.

Officers arrived, after other neighbors who heard the disturbance called 911, and they went to the neighbor’s home.  While they were investigating, they were informed that the neighbor, James Chadwick (01/26/1987), had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for assault.  The warrant had a $10,000 bond amount.  He was arrested for the warrant, and for aggravated assault.

A 17 year old female called a crisis hotline number after she climbed onto a ledge of the Harbor Bridge and was making threats to jump.

Corpus Christi Police responded to the north side of the bridge after the crisis center was able to verify the females location.

Officers  found her on a small maintenance walkway outside of the railing.  They were able to talk her down and she was taken to Bay Area Hospital for a mental evaluation.
