The Corpus Christi Police Department responded to 990 calls for service and generated 204 reports for formal criminal complaints from 7:00 a.m. July 22 to 7:00 a.m. on July 23, 2015. These are samples of the criminal complaints filed by the Corpus Christi Police for that time period.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a crash on the JFK Causeway in lanes going toward Padre Island.

When Officers arrived they determined that the driver of a 2008 Chevrolet Impala had rear ended a 2001 Hyundai SUV that was stopped on the shoulder of the road.

The driver of the SUV, a 46 year old female, had stopped to assist her 17 year old son, who was changing a tire on his vehicle. When the Impala struck the parked SUV, the SUV was pushed forward and it struck the young man changing the tire.

He was only grazed by his mother’s SUV and then thrown into the retaining wall. The young man was treated at the scene by CCFD EMS, but only suffered some bruising and abrasions.

After an investigation, it was determined that the driver of the Impala, Rodney John Cervantes (06/26/1992) was intoxicated. He was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a crash in the parking lot of a car dealership located at 6250 South Padre Island Drive.

When Officers arrived they determined that a Dodge truck had crashed into a pole and two parked vehicles in the parking lot of Auto Nation.

The driver of the truck told Officers that she was driving west on South Padre Island Drive when a brown truck swerved into her lane causing her to go over the sidewalk and crash into a light pole. The pole fell onto the top of two brand new cars that were parked in the parking lot of Auto Nation.

After an investigation it was determined that the driver, Schyler Manning (09/20/1991), was intoxicated. She was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

Damage to the light pole was estimated to be about $1,000. The car dealership is still trying to determine how much damage was done to the two new trucks.

Location: Newport Beach Access Road / Padre Island Offense: Arson P.C. 28.02       Second Degree Felony

A 35 year old man fishing along the surf near the Newport Beach Access Road had his truck set on fire.

The man called Corpus Christi Police and told them that he was fishing about 40 feet away from his 2013 Ford truck when he saw a dark colored vehicle pull up next to his truck and throw something into it causing it to catch on fire.  The suspect vehicle then drove away.

The man was not injured and could not provide any description of the suspect’s involved.

At this time no arrests have been made, and arson investigators will inspect the burned vehicle later today.

A 26 year old man called Corpus Christi Police after he was shot following an argument with another man at Lovenskold Park located at 1600 Antelope Street.

The victim told Officers that he and another man, who sales synthetic marijuana, were arguing when the man pulled out a gun and shot him twice in the back.

The victim was transported to Spohn Memorial Hospital by CCFD EMS with injuries not believed to be life threatening. Once at hospital the victim refused to cooperate with the investigation by Officers. He would only say that the suspect was a Hispanic male with a pony tail.
