Patrol Report 11/04/2015

The Corpus Christi Police Department responded to 898 calls for service and generated 189 reports for formal criminal complaints from 7:00 a.m. November 3 to 7:00 a.m. on November 4, 2015. These are samples of the criminal complaints filed by the Corpus Christi Police for that time period.

Location: 5000 Weber Road
Offense: Fatal Crash

A 23 year old man was killed in a traffic crash after he lost control of his vehicle and struck the a concrete pillar under State Highway 358 near the Weber Road intersection.

Police Traffic Investigators responded and determined that a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban, driven by the man, was exiting the freeway at a high rate of speed, lost control and struck the pillar.

Police are still investigating this crash but believe alcohol and speed were a factor.

Corpus Christi Police responded to the report of several shots fired at the La Siesta Motel located in the 4300 block of Leopard Street.

When Officers arrived they found six,  .9 millimeter shell casings in the parking lot, and observed three bullet holes in the building. Another bullet had struck the air conditioning window unit of one of the rooms. At that time, no one was around the motel to speak to Officers about the shooting.

Just after midnight, a 24 year old male showed up at Spohn Memorial Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his left foot.  Officers went to the hospital to investigate, and the victim told them that he was standing in the parking lot of the motel talking with his cousin when a man, he didn’t know, walked up and wanted to fight. After a physical altercation the suspect pulled out a hand gun and began to fire at the victim. The victim said he got shot in the foot and his sister drove him to the hospital.

After being treated at the hospital, Officers determined that the victim had an outstanding warrant out for his arrest. The victim of the shooting, Michael Young (09/18/1991), was arrested for a fail to appear warrant on an original charge for possession of marijuana.

The suspect, who shot the victim, is described as being a Hispanic male wearing shorts and a hoody sweater. He was not located.

Offense: Terroristic Threats

A local attorney was arrested after he sent threatening text messages to a man that is engaged to his former spouse.

The attorney, Thomas McBath (10/12/1963), was arrested at his home in the 100 block of Alta Plaza after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Detectives had obtained the arrest warrant after the 37 year old male victim reported the threatening text messages he had received from the suspect on November 1.

His 42 year old fiancé also reported to Officers that she felt threatened by her ex-husband.

Offense: Burglary
P.C. 30.02     State Jail Felony
Case Number: 1511030057
A business owner called Corpus Christi Police after he arrived and found a hole in the back office wall of his bar located in the 7400 block of South Staples Street.

Officers arrived at Politics Bar and were told that once inside the business, the suspect took a safe that had cash and other property inside.

Officers believe the suspect broke through the sheetrock to get into the bar, then picked a lock to gain access into an office inside.

At this time no suspects have been identified.
