Location: 4600 Hamlin Drive
Offense: Arson
P.C.  28.02     Second Degree Felony

Case Number: 1512070017
A teenager was arrested by Corpus Christi Police after she intentionally set her home, located in the 4600 block of Hamlin Drive, on fire while her family slept inside.

Officers arrived to find the home emitting heavy smoke from all windows and doors.  The 33 year old homeowner told Officers that he had got his 36 year old wife along with their newborn baby and their 3 year old daughter out and they were not injured.

He told Officers his 17 year old daughter was still inside.  Officers went into the house to look for the girl but due to the smoke they could not locate her.  Once back outside, they asked the mother to call her daughter on her cell phone.  The daughter answered and said that she was with her boyfriend and would return.

Once the teenager returned Officers and Arson Investigators determined that the girl had started multiple fires in four different rooms of the home.  Candles were placed over drapes in rooms, and a shower curtain was set on fire in the bathroom.  An accelerant was used to set fire to the bed in the girls room.

After setting the fires, the teenager left the home not alerting her family to the danger of the fire, locking the front door behind her and never calling 911.  She then met up with her 22 year old boyfriend and did not return until she was called on her cell phone by her mother.

Officers arrested Sadie Caraballo (06/23/1998) for arson, a second degree felony.
