The Corpus Christi Police Department responded to 843 calls for service and generated 208 reports for formal criminal complaints from 7:00 a.m. January 21 to 7:00 a.m. on January 22, 2016. These are samples of the criminal complaints filed by the Corpus Christi Police for that time period.

A man trying to cash a stolen check at a bank, located at 800 North Shoreline Boulevard, was arrested by Corpus Christi Police.

Officers arrived after bank employees called to report a man in the lobby attempting to cash a check from a business in the amount of $700. The business listed on the check had called the bank to report the stolen checks earlier in the week.

After bank employees verified that the check was stolen, the man trying to cash it, Kenneth Collette (03/27/1980), was arrested for forgery.

A 15 year old Miller High School student called Corpus Christi Police after he was robbed by two men after he left school and was walking in the 4100 block of Leopard Street.

The young man told Officers that he left school and was walking to a restaurant to get some food. He said that he noticed two men walking behind him but did not think much about it.  Both men then approached him and one of the suspects pulled out a knife.  The suspects took an earring and a ring from the young man’s finger and then took off running down Villa Street

The victim was not injured.

He described the suspects as both being thin Hispanic males in their twenties.   One of them was wearing a red shirt and the other was wearing a black shirt.

Officers searched the area for the two suspects, but no arrests were made.

Corpus Christi Police are investigating a wreck after a man drove off the roadway and crashed his truck into a parked vehicle and the back portion of a house in the 4500 block of Mount Vernon Drive.

The crash investigation by Officers determined that the driver of a 1991 Toyota Truck was traveling on Mount Vernon Drive when the driver lost control of his vehicle and ran into a parked 2003 Chevrolet truck. The vehicle then continued on, striking the back portion of a house at 4509 Mount Vernon Drive.

The driver, Rene Garza (10/27/1986), was not injured.

After an investigation it was determined that the driver was intoxicated.

He was arrested for driving while intoxicated and his truck was impounded.

The owner of the home estimated that the damage done to his property was nearly  $30,000.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer on patrol was slightly injured when a suspected drunk driver crashed into his patrol unit at the intersection of South Carancahua Street and Furman Avenue.

The Officer was driving down Carancahua Street when the driver of a 2004 Nissan truck ran a stop sign at Furman Avenue striking the passenger side of the police unit causing it to completely spin around and face the wrong direction, deploying the air bags in both vehicles.

The Officer was transported to Spohn Shoreline Hospital and treated for a cut to his face.

After an investigation, the driver of the Nissan truck, Adrian Rangel (05/07/1993), was determined to be intoxicated. He was arrested for driving while intoxicated, a Class B misdemeanor.
