The Corpus Christi Police Department responded to 898 calls for service and generated 214 reports for formal criminal complaints from 7:00 a.m. February 15 to 7:00 a.m. on February 16, 2016. These are samples of the criminal complaints filed by the Corpus Christi Police for that time period.

Offense: Evading Arrest in a Vehicle

P.C.  38.04      Third Degree Felony

Case Number: 1602160013
A truck traveling at a very high rate of speed in the 3900 block of Naples Street caught the attention of a Corpus Christi Police Officer.

The Officer attempted to stop the 2013 Chevrolet Silverado truck, but the truck continued at a high rate of speed through several residential streets and neighborhoods near Kostoryz Road and Horne Road. The driver was driving so recklessly that Officers decided to terminate the pursuit in hopes the driver would slow down or park his truck.

Officers later spotted the truck traveling very slow in the 4200 block of Cambridge Drive and they were able to get it stopped.

After an investigation the driver, Jason Eric Martinez (09/20/1980), was determined to be intoxicated.  He was arrested for driving while intoxicated third offense, a third degree felony and additionally charged with evading police in a vehicle and his truck was impounded.

Three other people in the truck, two males and a female, were released.

A 40 year old man who stopped by the Stripes Store in the 700 block of North Staples Street reported to Corpus Christi Police that while he was out of his vehicle, someone got in it and took money from the console.

The victim had gone into the store and while inside another customer alerted him that there was someone sitting in the driver seat of his 1999 Ford Expedition.  They man went out to confront the suspect and the clerk called police.

The suspect attempted to leave the scene on foot, walking toward Antelope Street, but responding Officers arrived and were able to take David Clark (04/30/1987) into custody.

The suspect was charged with burglary of a motor vehicle, a Class A Misdemeanor.

P.C.  30.02      Second Degree Felony

Case Number: 1602160021
An alert neighbor called Corpus Christi Police after he saw three men with flashlights in the garage of a home in the 4300 block of Holly Ridge Drive.

The neighbor said he saw one of the males take items out from the garage and get into a black Toyota Tacoma.  Another male left in a white Ford Explorer and the third walked off on foot.

Officers were able to wake up the homeowner and he told them that he believes the suspects stole twelve video games and two controllers.  Total value of the stolen property was estimated to be about $850.

The homeowner said the garage was closed when he went to bed.

At this time no suspects have been identified.
