An employee of the Stripes Store, located at 6901 South Padre Island Drive, was cleaning when she found a loaded gun in the parking lot.
Corpus Christi Police Officers were called and when they arrived they were told that a clerk was emptying a mop bucket in the parking lot at the front of the store, when she observed a black handgun on the ground. She did not notice the handgun in the parking lot when she emptied the bucket, but did see it once she flipped the bucket back up.
After touching it to determine if it was real, the employee called police.
Officers recovered the 9 millimeter caliber handgun.
They are looking at store surveillance images to see where the gun may have come from.

Several neighbors called Corpus Christi Police after they heard several shots being fired from a person in a vehicle that was traveling down Kentner Street.
Officers arrived and found fourteen shell casings in the street between the 5200 and 5500 block of Kentner Street. They did not locate any homes or vehicles that appeared to have been hit by the bullets.
One witness told Officers that he tried to follow the suspect vehicle, but near the intersection of South Alameda Street and Ennis Joslin Road, the driver of the suspect vehicle stopped his car, got out and began to yell at the witness.
The suspect vehicle was described as being a dark in color, two door BMW with chrome rims.
At this time, no suspects have been identified and the suspect vehicle was not located.

A female driver was arrested by Corpus Christi Police for DWI after she hit a man walking along the street with the side mirror of her vehicle and then drove off.
The female driver called police to report that a man was chasing her in the parking lot of the Mission Shopping Center, located in the 4900 block of Ayers Street.
When Officers arrived, they determined that the man was chasing the female because she had just drove past him, while he was walking along Ayers Street near Mc Ardle Road, and hit him with the passenger side mirror of her 2013 Chevrolet Cruze.
While Officers were investigating, they determined that the female driver, Florestela Sanchez (07/08/1953), was intoxicated.
The man hit by the mirror was not injured.
The female driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated and her car was impounded.
