Patrol Report 06/21/2016

The Corpus Christi Police Department responded to 896 calls for service and generated 229  reports for formal criminal complaints from 7:00 a.m. June 20 to 7:00 a.m. on June 21, 2016. These are samples of the criminal complaints filed by the Corpus Christi Police for that time period.

Two men shopping at a hobby shop, located at 5702 South Staples Street, turned robbery suspects when they pulled out a gun and walked out of the store with merchandise.

Corpus Christi Police arrived and were told that two male suspects came into the store and began looking at remote controlled cars.  Both suspects asked questions about the items and were handling the boxes as if they were shopping. Both suspects selected two remote controlled trucks, each valued at over $500, picked up the boxes, put them on their shoulders and began to walk out the front door of the store. When the two did not stop to pay for the merchandise and exited the business, an employee attempted to stop them.

One of the suspects pulled out a handgun from the waistband of his shorts and pointed it at the employee.   Both suspects then got into a gray Nissan SUV, which had several other people in it.

One of the suspects was described as being a white male in his late twenties, 6’0” foot tall, 220 pounds. He was last seen wearing a blue t-shirt and khaki shorts.

The suspect who had the gun was described as a Hispanic male in his early twenties, 5`7” foot tall, 160 pounds with a short haircut. He was last seen wearing a plaid pull over shirt, shorts, and had on a gold pair of sunglasses.

At this time, no suspects have been identified.

No one in the store was injured.

Offense: Driving While Intoxicated

Corpus Christi Police arrested a male driver for DWI after he crashed his car into a parked Jeep and a fence in the 3800 block of Dunbrook Drive.

The crash investigation revealed that the driver of a 2011 Honda Accord was traveling west on Dunbrook Drive when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a 2005 Jeep Liberty that was parked along the street.  The Honda then veered off the roadway and struck a fence at 3821 Dunbrook Drive.

The driver of the Honda, Michael Anthony Montez (04/15/1991), was not injured, but after an investigation he was determined to be intoxicated.  He was arrested for driving while intoxicated, a Class A misdemeanor.
