Corpus Christi Police responded to a report of a female that was found unconscious on the ground at the bottom of a stairway at an apartment complex located at 15209 Leeward Drive.
Officers found the 74-year-old female in evening clothes with a dog leash around her arm and severe head trauma at the bottom of the staircase in front of her apartment. The female was transported by CCFD EMS to Bay Area Hospital however, she did not survive and was pronounced dead at 10:15 PM.
Investigators are looking into what caused the female to apparently fall down the steps.
At this time foul play is not suspected.

Offense: Child Locked in Vehicle

Corpus Christi Police Officers broke the window of a vehicle to rescue a child that was locked inside while it was parked at 10241 South Padre Island Drive.
When Officers arrived they found the father of the child standing next to his 2011 Cadillac CTS that was running in the parking lot. The man told Officers that his one-year-old daughter was secured in a child safety car seat in the vehicle. At the time, the car was still running with the air conditioning on but the man said that the vehicle would only run for a few minutes because the key was not in the ignition. Shortly after Officers arrived the vehicle engine shut off. Officers immediately called for a locksmith service to respond.
At the time of the call, the temperature was 90 degrees with a heat index of 110 degrees. Officer only waited for a short time, before they saw the child start to sweat and the decision was made to break the driver`s window of the vehicle to rescue the child.
The child was not injured, damage to the window was valued at $300.

Corpus Christi Police arrested a female driver for DWI after she drove her SUV into a field in the 7200 block of South Padre Island Drive.
The investigation determined that the driver of a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe had veered off the roadway crossed the curb and drove into a field and got stuck. The driver, Rachel Hudak (05/02/1995) was not injured, but was determined to be intoxicated and she was arrested.
She was additionally charged with possession of marijuana when Officers found narcotics in her purse.
