There are ten seats still available for the 53rd Citizens Police Academy and applications are still being accepted.
Classes begin Thursday, January 11, 2024, and will run for 12 weeks, with graduation occurring on Thursday, March 28, 2024. Meetings will take place from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm on Thursday nights.
Participants will learn about the different aspects of the Corpus Christi Police Department and on the first day of class you will hear from Chief of Police Mike Markle.
Every Thursday, a different Police Department division leader (Uniform Division, Criminal Investigations Division, Administrative Division, etc.) will speak to the group. Some of the topics will include a look at the department’s specialized units including SWAT, the Dive Team, Bomb Techs, and the Hostage Negotiation Team. Participants will also go on a Patrol Ride-a-Long and meet the department’s K-9 Officers, who along with their handlers will demonstrate the different training techniques used in narcotics searches and arrests. Classes will also include the CCPD Drone Program, Internet Crimes Against Children and Fentanyl.
