On Sunday, March 17, 2024, at 1:10am, officers were dispatched to intersection of Everhart/Saratoga in reference to a major traffic accident with injuries.

Officers arrived and located two victims suffering injuries from the accident. Both subjects, a 69-year-old male pedestrian and a 28-year-old male motorcyclist, were transported to local hospitals by medics. The pedestrian had serious but non-life-threatening injuries and the motorcyclist had minor injuries.

Officers found that the female driver of a black passenger car was driving northbound on Everhart, failed to maintain a single lane of travel, and struck the pedestrian (who was in the crosswalk) and the motorcycle (who was stopped in the left lane at the signal light, facing southbound on Everhart). The driver of the passenger car fled the scene on foot.

Officers spoke to numerous witnesses who provided a description of the female driver. Officers were able to locate the female in a neighborhood in the 6400 block of Everhart. As officers attempted to detain the female for the investigation, she assaulted one of the officers by punching him numerous times in the face.

A CCPD DWI enforcement officer also investigated the scene and found that the female driver, identified as 29-year-old Nicole Campbell, displayed signs of intoxication, and was initially arrested for driving while intoxicated. Nicole was transported to a local hospital. Once she was medically cleared, she was transported to the City Detention Center for booking.

Nicole was arrested for the following: Due to Nicole assaulting a police officer, she was charged with Assault on a Peace Officer. Due to the serious injuries the pedestrian sustained; the initial charge of DWI was enhanced to Intoxication Assault with Vehicle SBI (serious bodily injury). Due to the fact that Nicole left the scene of the accident where serious injuries occurred, she was charged with Accident Involving Injury. While at the hospital and when officers initially made contact with Nicole, she resisted officers and was charged with Resisting. It was also found that Nicole was driving with a suspended driver license and was charged with Driving While License Suspended.

On Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 1:40am, officers were dispatched to the 2900 block of S. Padre Island Drive in reference to a major traffic accident.

Officers arrived and located a passenger car that had struck a pilar of a building. They located a 27-year-old deceased female driver and a 23-year-old male passenger with injuries in the vehicle. CCFD had to extricate the male passenger then transported him to a local hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators with the Traffic Section arrived on scene and conducted their investigation. They found that an unknown dark-colored vehicle struck the passenger car while traveling eastbound on State Highway 358, causing the passenger car to veer off the highway and strike the pilar of the business. The unknown vehicle fled the scene, last seen driving eastbound on SH 358.

On Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 1:14pm, officers were dispatched to the area of Weber/Tripoli in reference to a citizen observing a vehicle with heavy front-end damage parked in a parking lot. Officers were able to determine that the vehicle was the suspect vehicle that had been involved in the hit and run fatality accident that occurred during the overnight hours.

Traffic Investigators continued their investigation and obtained a warrant for 31-year-old Garner Burford for Accident Involving Injury or Death, bond $75,000. Burford was taken into custody, medically cleared at a local hospital, and transported to the City Detention Center for booking.

Offense: Accident Involving Injury or Death

On Thursday, February 29, 2024, at 12:38am, officers were dispatched to the intersection of S. Staples Street and S. Padre Island Drive access road in reference to a major traffic accident with injuries (hit and run).

Officers arrived and located a 32-year-old female victim who was observed by witnesses driving a moped on the 5000 block of S. Staples Street. As she drove under the overpass, she was struck from behind by a tan passenger car, ejecting her from the moped. The unknown driver of the passenger car fled the scene.

Officers located the passenger car, abandoned, in the 5400 block of S. Staples.

The female victim was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Detectives with the Traffic Section began their investigation and were able to identify the driver of the hit and run vehicle. Detectives secured a warrant for 29-year-old Ryan Aguilar for Accident Involving Injury or Death, bond $50,000.

On Thursday, February 29, 2024, at 6:48pm, Officers with the Corpus Christi Gang Unit located and arrested Aguilar on the 5400 block of Saratoga Blvd. Aguilar was transported to the City Detention Center for booking.

Ryan Bora was born and raised in Providence, Rhode Island, and moved to Corpus Christi in 2021 after being hired to work as a Crime Analyst for the Corpus Christi Police Department.

Before becoming a Crime Analyst, Ryan obtained two bachelor’s degrees in criminology and psychology from Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) in New Britain, Connecticut. Ryan also has two certificates: one in Geographic Information Systems, obtained from CCSU and the other in Crime and intelligence Analysis, obtained from California State University – Fullerton. Ryan was also an intern at the Providence Emergency Management Agency in Providence, Rhode Island, as well as the Internet Crime Against Children Task Force with the Rhode Island State Police in Warwick, Rhode Island.

Since joining the Corpus Christi Police Department two-and-a-half-years ago, Ryan has spent his career with the Uniform Division as one of our Crime Analyst. His responsibilities include analyzing crime trends and calls for service to maximize efficient use of patrol resources. Ryan also provides crucial information to patrol officers in a timely manner to help them be more proactive and keep the community safe.

Offense: Child Endangerment

On Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at 12:40am, officers were dispatched to the 6300 block of Old Brownsville Road for a family disturbance.

Upon arrival, officers were informed that 36-year-old Pedro Abraham Rodriguez, was involved in a domestic disturbance with his girlfriend at the location. Pedro left the location with 11-month-old Delylah Rodriguez, whom he does not have custody of, at around 8pm on Tuesday, February 27, 2024. Delylah has multiple serious medical issues that require constant care and monitoring. Pedro and Delylah were last seen leaving in a white 2014 Jeep Patriot with Texas plates TVP5720. The front driver side tire has been replaced with the spare tire.

Due to Delylah’s medical issues, she is believed to be in imminent danger.

Suspect Pedro Rodriguez is described as a 36-year-old Hispanic male, who stands at 5’9”, weighs approximately 195 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Pedro has multiple visible tattoos on his arms, face, neck, and chest. Pedro was last seen wearing a black muscle shirt and blue jeans.

Delylah Rodriguez is described as an 11-month-old Hispanic female, who stands at 2 feet tall, weighs approximately 15 pounds, has strawberry blonde hair and hazel eyes. She was last seen wearing a white onsie with a Texas Tech logo on the front.

Investigators are seeking help from the public to locate the whereabouts of Delylah Rodriguez. Investigators have already submitted the required paperwork for an Amber Alert.

Callers make aggressive calls posing as IRS agents, using fake names and bogus IRS identification badge numbers in hopes of stealing taxpayer money or personal information. They may know a lot about their targets, and they usually alter the caller ID to make it look like the IRS is calling.

Victims are told they owe money to the IRS and it must be paid promptly through a gift card or wire transfer. Victims may be threatened with arrest, deportation or suspension of a business or driver’s license. In many cases, the caller becomes hostile and insulting. Victims may be told they have a refund due to try to trick them into sharing private information. If the phone isn’t answered, the scammers often leave an “urgent” callback request.

Note that the IRS DOES NOT:

*Call to demand immediate payment using a specific payment method such as a prepaid debit card, gift card or wire transfer. Generally, the IRS will first mail you a bill if you owe any taxes.
*Threaten to bring in local police or other law-enforcement groups to have you arrested for not paying.
*Demand payment without giving you the opportunity to question or appeal the amount they say you owe.
*Ask for credit or debit card numbers over the phone.

As a follow-up to last night’s officer involved shooting, the following information has been made available for release.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division have diligently continued the investigation into last night’s officer involved shooting and identified the male suspect as 37-year-old Jesse Rose.

This morning, Detectives obtained a felony warrant for Rose for Aggravated Assault Against a Public Servant, bond amount $150,000.

This afternoon, Marshals with the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offenders and Fugitive Task Force assisted the Corpus Christi Police Department and located Rose on the 4500 block of Dolphin Place, where they placed Rose into custody. Rose sustained injuries during the initial contact at the 2900 block of SPID and was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Once he was medically cleared for jail, Rose was transported to the City Detention Center for booking.

UPDATE: On Thursday, February 15, 2024, Abraham Anzaldua was arrested and was booked into the Nueces County Jail.

The Corpus Christi Police Department is asking for your help to locate 48-year-old Abraham Anzaldua, who has an outstanding warrant for Capital Murder ($500,000 Bond).

Anzaldua is described as a 48-year-old Hispanic male who stands 6’01”, weighs approximately 150 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He has Anzaldua tattooed on his back.

Anzaldua was last seen driving a black 2003 Chevrolet Silverado with possible license plate JLW-2055.

This murder warrant relates to the incident that occurred on Monday, February 12, 2024, at approximately 2:56pm. The Corpus Christi Fire Department responded to a residential fire in the 2700 block of Camargo Drive. Once the fire was extinguished, a deceased victim was located inside of the residence.

On Monday, February 12, 2024, at 2:56pm, officers were dispatched to assist CCFD with traffic control for a residential fire at the 2700 block of Camargo Drive.  

The fire department gained control of the fire and conducted their primary search of the residence and advised they located a victim inside of the residence. Due to suspicious circumstances, the fire department contacted the police department and advised us of their findings.  

Homicide detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division have arrived and are actively investigating the scene.
