I’ll Take One More Round On The House

Occurred on 1/10/12, 4:35 p.m.   Forgery   4125 Gollihar     1201100069

Officers responded to the It’ll Do Saloon and contacted the bartender who reported Sheila Jo Hardin (08/20/75) attempted to pay her bar tab with a forged $100 bill.

Officers contacted Hardin who was found to be in possession of several more $100 counterfeit bills which were confiscated.

Hardin was arrested and charged with Forgery ~ Government Instrument Money/Securities.

Thief Donates to Himself

Occurred on 01/09/12, 11:59 p.m.   Theft   6526 S. Staples     1201100001

Officers were dispatched to the Goodwill for a theft in progress reported by a passerby. Officers arrived to find a purple 1994 Dodge Caravan and silver 2007 Nissan Titan pick-up truck behind the store and detained three individuals. 

Cresencio Cardona (11-24-45) was found to be in possession of two stolen tires and a mirror in his van belonging to Goodwill.  He was also found to be wanted for assault and arrested. Cardona was charged with Theft and an outstanding Nueces County warrant for Assault.

The other two subjects were released at the scene.  All three individuals were issued Criminal Trespass warnings

Police Explorers Will Hold Waffle Breakfast Fundraiser This Saturday

 This Sunday, January 8th, the Corpus Christi Police Department Explorers will hold a Waffle Breakfast at the Corpus Christi Police Officers’ Association, 3122 Leopard Street.

Tickets can be purchased on site for $6.00 and serving times are from 9 am – noon.  All proceeds will go to Explorer Post #133 and will be used to help pay for law enforcement competitions and equipment costs.

Robber Steals Gas Card at Gun Point

Occurred on 1/5/12,  6:56 p.m.  Aggravated Robbery   5801 Weber Road   1201050112

Officers contacted the 32-year-old victim who reported she was robbed at the H.E.B. gas pumps located at 5801 Weber Road.  The victim told Officers she was walking to the gas pumps when she heard footsteps behind her.

She turned to find a Hispanic male who demanded her property at gunpoint.  The victim complied and handed him her gas card.  The suspect threatened to kill the victim, if she called police.  The victim, who was uninjured, left the H.E.B. and called police.

The suspect is described as Hispanic male, 25 to 30 years of age, 5’4” to 5’7” feet tall, and weighing 125 to 185.  He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a black hoodie, with sunglasses perched on top of his head.

Nine 8 liners and $1,103 Seized by Narcotics Vice Investigations Division

On Thursday January 5, 2012 at approximately 6:30 p.m. the Narcotics Vice Investigations Division (NVID) served search warrants at 2156 Gollihar One Stop Market #3 and 3101 S. Port Ave. An’s Market. 

The search warrants were obtained through information developed in an undercover investigation regarding illegal 8 liner gambling at both locations. 

At this time no arrests have been made, however the investigation is ongoing and there may be arrests at a future date.

 NVID Investigators seized six internet gaming machines and $1,103.00 in cash from One Stop Market #3, while three internet gaming machines  were confiscated from An’s Market.

 

 

 

**Update** Narcotics Officers Arrest Two in Early Morning Raid

On Friday January 6, 2012 at approximately 7:25 a.m. the SWAT Team served a search and arrest warrant for the Narcotics Vice Investigations Division (NVID) at 4022 Montego Apartments.

The warrant was obtained as the result of information developed during an ongoing undercover narcotics investigation conducted by NVID.

Seized as result of the warrant service was 79.78 grams of black tar heroin, 2.08 grams of brown heroin and 6.23 grams of crystal methamphetamine.  Also seized was $1,600 in U.S. currency.

The street value of the drugs recovered were Black Tar Heroin – $3,600, Metamphetamine – $600, Brown Heroin – $140, for a total of $4340

Carlos Caballero Jr. (01/11/84) along with Derek Alan Roberts (06/02/86) were arrested.  Caballero was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver (1F), while Roberts was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance (3F).

The C.C.P.D.’s commitment to “Keep Corpus Christi Safe” has continued with its “Zero Tolerance No Insurance Initiative”

On Saturday, January 7, 2012, a total of 83 cars will be auctioned at the Corpus Christi Police Department Vehicle Impound Lot located at 2600 Holly Road during our monthly auction. Approximately 23 of these vehicles are “No Insurance” impounds. On Friday, January 6, 2012, the general public will be allowed to register and view the vehicles to be auctioned from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. There is no registration fee.

On the day of the auction, the general public can continue to register and view the vehicles from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.  The auction will commence promptly at 10:00 a.m. The vehicles to be auctioned can be viewed at www.siskauction.com. An auction list may also be downloaded from the same website.

The department’s strong stand and enforcement of this “Zero Tolerance No Insurance Initiative” will continue and all vehicles involved in accidents will be impounded and the driver cited if they are unable to provide financial proof of insurance. Driver’s license and proof of financial responsibility checkpoints will continue to be conducted at the Shift Captains’ authorization.

Officers have issued 5,461 citations for Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility since January 1, 2011.

Driver Asleep at the Wheel Arrested

Occurred on 1/4/12, 10:19 p.m.  Driving While Intoxicated   Everhart Road and Bonner Drive 1201040138

Officers were dispatched to a man down call at Everhart Road and Bonner Driver.  Upon their arrival, Officers found the driver of a black 2008 Nissan Altima passed out behind the wheel as he waited for the red light.

Officers blocked in the Altima and contacted Roger Escobar (07/19/83) who was out for the count.  When awakened, Escobar appeared intoxicated.  He was administered a Breath Test and arrested.  Escobar was charged with Driving While Intoxicated.

Man Arrested, Found Slumped Over the Wheel

Occurred on 1/5/12, 5:21 a.m.  Driving While Intoxicated   2300 Holly Road     1201050019

Officers responded to an accident in which a black 2003 Hyundai Tiburon driven by Jacob Lee Fain (08/25/90) jumped the curb and struck a street sign.  The caller advised the driver was slumped over the steering wheel.  Fain who appeared to be intoxicated was administered Standard Field Sobriety Tests and along with a Blood Draw.

He was medically cleared and arrested.  Fain was charged with Driving While Intoxicated.

One Shot Fired, Two Arrested

Occurred on 1/5/12, 01:12 a.m.   Discharging in Municipality/UCW  5800 S. Staples   1201050011 

A CCPD Patrol Lieutenant and Officer were standing in a parking lot on the 5800 block of S. Staples when a white Ford F-150 pick-up drove by.  When the truck passed by no further than 15 yards away from them, the officers heard a loud gunshot coming from the vehicle.  Since the truck was the only vehicle on the roadway, the Officers followed it and pulled it over several blocks away.

As soon as the officers pulled the truck over,  the driver Nicholas Roy Packard (01/20/81) blurted out that he was only defending himself and that he had been shot at first. Officers searched the pickup and discovered a loaded .40 caliber handgun behind the front seat.  The barrel of the weapon was still warm and officers discovered a spent .40 caliber shell casing in the bed of the pickup.  Packard who appeared intoxicated, was administered Standard Field Sobriety Tests and a Blood Draw was later performed at a local hospital.  Packard was arrested and charged with Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon, Discharging a Firearm in Certain Municipalities, and Driving While Intoxicated.

A  passenger in the truck,  Aaron Wayne Sanchez (07/17/82) was also arrested and charged with Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.

No one was injured, nor any property damaged.
