Missing person alerts are used to get information out to the public in hope of receiving tips and then leads to the recovery of a person in danger. There are currently six different types of alerts and each categorize a different type of missing or abducted individual.
AMBER Alert Notifies the public when a child has been abducted and is believed to be in danger of sexual assault, bodily injury, or death.
Silver Alert Notifies the public of a missing older adult with a documented mental condition.
Blue Alert Notifies the public of a wanted violent criminal who has killed or seriously wounded a local, state, or federal law enforcement officer.
Endangered Missing Persons Alert Notifies the public of a missing person (of any age) with an intellectual disability.
Camo Alert Notifies the public of a missing current or former member of the United States armed forces, including the National Guard or a reserve or auxiliary unit of any branch of the armed forces who is struggling with mental illness.
CLEAR Notifies the public of missing, kidnapped, or abducted adult or adults who are in immediate danger of injury or death.

Beginning May 24th and ending on June 6th additional Corpus Christi Police Officers will participate in the 2021 “Click it or Ticket” campaign.
The “Click it or Ticket” National event began in 2002 and according to The Texas Department of Transportation “…almost 91% of Texans use their seatbelts-only 76% did when the campaign launched…”.

During inclement weather we want our community to be safe as they travel on the roadways.
Here are a few helpful tips:
-Drive slower than usual so that you have time to react to other traffic on the roadway. -Turn on your head lights so that you are visible to other vehicles and pedestrians. -Be aware of possible flooding in low lying areas. -Do not drive through flooded streets. -It only takes 6 inches of flowing water to knock a pedestrian off their feet. -It only takes 12 inches of flowing water to float a car or SUV.
The Corpus Christi Police Department wants to warn our citizens of a phone scam.
The reporting party told our officers that they received a call from a scammer claiming to be a detective with our department. The scammer then told the reporting party that they had a subpoena that was issued for a federal child case and that if they did not meet the caller would be placed on a 72-hour hold.
CCPD offers this advice to avoid getting scammed:
* Look out for “spoofing”. Part of scammers tactics include spoofing, which happens when the caller masks their own number and causes the number of a well-known Agency, like CCPD, to appear on caller ID. Also, the caller might give a badge number and know the last four digits of your Social Security number.
* Write down details. If you do get a call and are unsure, write down the phone number and name of the caller.
* Protect your personal information. Do not provide any personal or financial information over the phone.
* Know your rights. Corpus Christi Police Department will never request for prepaid debit cards or wire transfer payments and will not ask for a credit card number over the phone.
* Don’t be bullied. Never trust callers who use threats and hostility to push you into doing what they want. Be skeptical of what a caller claims he or she can do if you refuse to meet their demand.
* Hang up and report it. If you’re unsure if the call is real, contact CCPD directly at 361-886-2600. The Corpus Christi Police Department will never demand payment from you, ask you for any private or financial information over the phone or threaten to bring the police or other federal law-enforcement groups to have you arrested for not paying.

Nationally, 2020 was a record-breaking year with more than 37,872 reports of online enticement reports which was a 97% increase over 2019.
HOW TO PROTECT CHILDRED Monitor your child’s computer and phone usage. Know what apps your child is using. Know your child’s username and passwords. Control access to chat rooms or instant messaging. Educate yourself about digital devices, apps, and the internet.
HOW CHILDREN CAN PROTECT THEMSELVES Do not give out personal information or arrange face to face meeting with someone you have met online. Do not take, keep, or send inappropriate pictures of yourself or others. Remember that online posts are forever. Do not post images or comments that you would not want to see on a job or college application.
The Corpus Christi Police Department would like for everyone to enjoy the Wings Over South Texas Air Show and Buc Carnival this weekend.
For the safety of everyone involved, both directions of Shoreline will be closed from the American Bank Center to Park Ave. You should expect traffic congestion and arrive early to find parking. During the weekend show there will be no enforcement of parking meter violations.
For the safety of the pilots, and the public, the Federal Aviation Administration requires a safe airspace for a 3-mile radius. The use of drones or kites from North Beach to Cole Park and Staples to the Bayfront will be prohibited.
The Corpus Christi Police Department Auto Theft Task Force will be conducting 68A inspections on the first and third Tuesday starting May 2021. The inspections will be held at the Corpus Christi Police Department Impound Lot located at 5485 Greenwood Drive.
The inspections will start at 9:00 am to 11:00 am and customers must be in line by 10:00 am.
