Offense: Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle     (PC 31.07   Third Degree Felony)
Case Number: 1410060008
A 26 year old female called Corpus Christi Police from a convenience store on North Beach and said that she was giving a ride to a male friend of a friend from the downtown area across the bridge. She said when they arrived at the store she went inside to buy something and when she returned her 2007 Ford Focus was gone. She said she went inside and had left the keys in the ignition with the vehicle running and the male inside. The suspect is described as a white male with two triangle tattoos on his face and he was last seen wearing a red shirt and black shorts. The female was given a ride home by officers.  A little while later, officers found her car parked and abandoned in front of an apartment complex in the 3000 block of Antelope St. Officers are still looking for the male who took the car for a joy ride.

Patrol Report October 3, 2014

Offense: Driving While Intoxicated       (PC 49.04 Third Degree Felony)

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to the 10200 block of Kingsbury Dr. for a crash involving a child on a bike. The investigation revealed that Amanda Clayton (11/19/1980) was driving her 1997 Ford F250 truck west on Kingsbury Dr. when an eleven year old boy on a bicycle cut across the street in front of her and she struck him. Witnesses at the scene told officers the truck was speeding down the street before the crash occurred. Officers determined that the female driver was intoxicated and she was arrested, for driving while intoxicated, a third degree felony, and her truck was impounded. The boy was transported to Driscoll Children’s Hospital by CCFD EMS for injuries to his hand.

Offense: Burglary of a Building           (PC 30.02 State Jail Felony)

The City of Corpus Christi Cunningham Water Plant located on Ripple Rd. was broken into and several hundred dollars’ worth of copper tubing and wires was stolen. City employees were checking on the old water plant and found that the lock on the front gate was on, but that it did not belong to the City of Corpus Christi.  After checking it was determined that no one with the city had changed the lock and the lock on the gate was put there by someone other than a city employee.  Once the lock was cut, and entry was made onto the property it was determined that nearly $1000 worth of copper wire and tubing had been removed from a building on the property.

Offense: Burglary of a Building           (PC 30.02 State Jail Felony)

An employee at a business located at 430 South Padre Island Drive reported that the front doors of the business had been pried open. Camera surveillance from the property shows two males driving a black truck pull into the parking lot, get out and look inside the front door with flashlights. They are then scene going to the side of the building and one of the men takes a rock and throws it at the camera that is recording them until it breaks. The suspects then pry the front doors of the business open and enter the showroom area. While inside the suspects steal grass trimmers, chain saws and a laptop computer. The estimated total dollar amount stolen was over $2,700 worth of property. Both suspects wore light colored shorts, ball caps and polo shirts.  Officers are in the process of reviewing the images from the security system in an attempt to identify the suspects involved, however, no arrests have been made.

Offense: Engage In Organized Criminal Activity       (PC 71.02 State Jail Felony)

Corpus Christi Police Vice Officers executed a search warrant at a home located in the 5100 block of Williams Drive.  Due to the house being heavily fortified the Corpus Christi Police SWAT team was used to gain entry.  Vice Officers had conducted a lengthy investigation after complaints about the home were received by the police department. The investigation revealed that an illegal gambling operation was being run out of the residence. Investigators were able to obtain a search warrant for the residence and once inside they recovered several television sets, a camera surveillance system, poker tables, poker paraphernalia, four guns and nearly $2000 in cash.  Mario Gomez (08/03/1976) was arrested and charged with engaging in criminal activity, a state jail felony and additionally charged with keeping a gambling place, promotion of gambling, and possession of gambling equipment, all Class A misdemeanors.  Kevin McGee (09/04/1986) was also in the house when officers went inside.  They found him to be in possession of marijuana and he was arrested.  Other people inside the home were identified by officers and at this time investigators are trying to determine if they will face any criminal charges.

Location: 14300 Interstate 37 Offense: Vehicle in River
Case Number: 1410010199
A 44 year old man called Corpus Christi Police after his car rolled into the Nueces River at Labonte Park. The man said he was attempting to turn around at the boat ramp and had stopped at the edge near the water. As he tried to back up, his white 2013 Dodge Challenger sedan began to slide into the river. The man was able to get out of the car and watched as it sank into the murky water about 30 feet from the shore.  The Corpus Christi Police Dive team is expected to try and recover the car on Thursday morning.

Corpus Christi Police received a call about a man down in the parking lot of an apartment complex located at 2240 N. Padre Island Dr. When officers arrived they saw a man get up from the ground and get on a motorcycle and drive off. Officers attempted to stop the rider and after a short distance he dismounted the motorcycle. When officers approached him he took off running on foot.  After a short foot pursuit officers were able to catch up to the suspect and take him into custody. When officers asked him why he was running, he said he thought he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.  Officers checked, but did not find the suspect was wanted.  Albert Soto (12/07/1965) was arrested for evading officers on foot, a Class A Misdemeanor.

Corpus Christi Police responded to an alarm at a business located at 2833 S Padre Island Dr. and found the front glass door had been broken. Officers entered and found the cabinet behind the desk in the front of the business had been opened and some property was taken. Witnesses told officers they saw a male with a long jacket and a hat running from the business toward Kostoryz Rd. after the alarm went off.  The owner estimated cost to replace the front door would be $600 and he estimated about $200 in cash was stolen.

Offense: Assault of a Peace Officer        (PC   22.01    Third Degree Felony)

A Corpus Christi Police Officer on patrol was pulling into the Police Department parking lot located at 321 John Sartain St. when he observed a male suspect inside of a parked 2005 silver Mercedes-Benz with the driver side door open. As the officer went to investigate he saw the male getting out of the driver’s seat and the officer attempted to stop him.  The suspect fled on foot across the street and when the officer caught up to the suspect, he assaulted the officer. Both fell to the ground and the suspect grabbed the officers shoulder microphone and pulled it off of his uniform shirt. The suspect then reached up and scratched the officer across the forehead and caused other scratches to his elbow and arm before finally being taken into custody. Alexander Toynes (09/15/1986) was arrested and charged with assaulting the officer, a third degree felony and additionally charged with evading arrest on foot and burglary, both Class A misdemeanors.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer responding to a call about neighbors arguing at 4518 Domingo Drive found a vehicle with a wanted person inside. The caller advised police that a black suburban involved in the disturbance had just left toward Greenwood Rd. Officers responding to the call observed the suspect vehicle at the intersection of Greenwood Rd. and Horne Rd. and stopped it.  A male sitting in the backseat of the suburban was identified as wanted murder suspect Ronald Jackson (02/01/1970).  He was taken into custody without incident.   The 52 year old driver of the suburban and his female passenger were released.   An arrest warrant had been issued for the suspect in connection to a homicide at 4605 Jose Street earlier in the day.

Police Conduct Death Investigation on Jose Drive

UPDATE: At approximately 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Murder for Ronald Jackson (2.1.1970)
Jackson was arrested at 9:36 p.m. near Greenwood and Horne during a traffic stop. He was booked into the CDC.

The Corpus Christi Police are conducting an investigation of an unattended death which happened on the 4600 block of Jose Drive Saturday morning. Corpus Christi Police responded to a call for help at 11:05am in which a 38-year-old woman was reportedly not responsive. Officers and Emergency Medical Services arrived and determined the 38-year-old woman was deceased. The Emergency Responders observed the circumstances and suspected the death of the 38-year-old woman may not have been the result of natural causes.

Officers summoned the assistance of the Corpus Christi Police Criminal Investigations Division and the Corpus Christi Police Forensics Services to gather information and evidence from the scene. Detectives will have the Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office evaluate the 38-year-old woman to determine the cause of death in order to conclude whether or not the death was a result of criminal action. Detectives are interested in speaking to several people, but there are no suspects in this event because there is no determination of criminal action until the cause of death has been identified.

A 48 year old male victim called Corpus Christi Police after he was hit in the face with a pipe or bat while walking in the 4100 block of Violet Rd. The victim told officers he was walking south on Violet Rd on the sidewalk toward his house. He said that as he passed a trailer park he noticed a young black male wearing shorts and a baseball cap walking up to him.  The suspect told the victim “Don`t walk up on me” and then hit him in the head with an unknown solid weapon.  The victim could not tell what he was hit with. The victim suffered a cut above the right eye and was transported to Northwest Regional Hospital by CCFD EMS.  No suspect has been arrested in this case.

A 34 year old female store employee called Corpus Christi Police after she saw a female sticking stuff in her purse. When the store employee confronted the female she threw out some of the property and started making threats. When the store employee saw more property in her purse, the female started pushing her and threatened to stab her as she was going out of the store with a male. Both the male and the female suspects started threatening the store employee as they exited the store with stolen property. Officers arrived and contacted the female suspect and found she was only 15 years old. She was arrested and transported to the Juvenile Justice Center and charged with aggravated robbery. Inside the store officers found $41worth of merchandise that had been thrown about the floors of the store. Another $19 worth of stolen property was recovered from the female’s purse.  The male that was with the female was identified as Armando Sanchez (02/22/1997). He was also charged with aggravated robbery for his part, and he was transported to the City Detention Center. A third male, Joshua Broyles (12/09/1992) was found waiting in a vehicle in the back seat for the other two to exit.  After an investigation, officers found he was intoxicated, but it was determined that he was not involved in the robbery. He was charged with public intoxication, a Class C Misdemeanor.

Camera Images Catch Thieves At Work

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to United Rentals located at 501 S. Padre Island Dr. for a theft. The manager of the business said that two suspects came onto the property and cut off a steel lock and chain on the front gate with a reciprocating saw. A camera on the property caught images of a black sport utility vehicle, possibly a Jeep Wrangler, with two male suspects, drive up and stop along the access road and then walk back to the business.  After cutting the lock and chain the suspects then pick up the property and leave with it.  The manager believes the suspects stole the chain in order to come back later and steal more equipment.  The chain and lock that was stolen was valued at over $200.  Anyone who can identify the individuals responsible, or has any additional information about this crime should call the Corpus Christi Police Property Crimes Detectives at 886-2840. Offense: Possession of as Controlled Substance     (HS 481.115 State Jail Felony)

A 31 year old female called Corus Christi Police to her apartment located at 4702 Old Brownsville Rd. for a possible burglary in progress. She said that her ex-boyfriend was trying to force open the front door of her apartment. Officers arrived and found Marcos Gonzales (09/30/1979) outside the apartment building and upon checking his pocket they found four small plastic bags each containing what appeared to be narcotics. One bag contained heroin another contained cocaine, and a third crystal methamphetamine. A fourth bag contained several pills believed to be hydrocodone. The suspect was charged with three felony counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the suspected heroin, methamphetamine, and cocaine, and charged with a misdemeanor count of possession for the hydrocodone. Officers found no evidence that the suspect made entry into his ex-girlfriends apartment.
