26 Arrested At Party In Vacant House

Twenty six people were arrested for criminal trespass and several other charges after a party with minors in vacant house on Santa Ana Street was busted by Corpus Christi Police Tuesday morning.

Corpus Christi Police were called to the 3000 block of Santa Ana Street for a disturbance. Officers discovered people inside a vacant house with a broken window and trespass warnings. Officers contacted the property owner by telephone and verified no person had permission to be inside the home. Officers then contacted 26 people inside the home.

Officers discovered a large quantity of alcoholic beverages and an amount of marijuana inside the home. Two people inside the home were of legal drinking age. There were 23 adults from age 17 to 21 years of age arrested and delivered to the city detention center. There were 3 juveniles taken to the Nueces County Juvenile Justice Center.

All were arrested for Criminal Trespass in a Habitation, a Class A misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail and up to a $4,000 fine. Several of those arrested face a variety of other criminal charges.

  13. 18 yr old Michael Gomez (2/26/1994) additionally charged with possession of alcohol by a minor

  15. 17 yr old Marcus Dominguez (10/5/1994) additionally charged with possession of alcohol by a minor

  23. 18 yr old Floyd Saldana (1/18/1994) additionally charged with possession of alcohol by a minor and for Nueces County warrant for theft

Keyes Arrested for DWI

Richard Loren Keyes (07/27/56) was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated after being involved in an accident which left a 50-year-old woman injured.  Keyes who left McCaw’s Inc Nightclub was traveling eastbound on Saratoga when he failed to stop for the red light and struck a tan Chevrolet Tahoe driven by the victim.  She was taken to Spohn Memorial by CCFD Emergency Personnel with non-life threatening injuries.  

Keyes who appeared to be intoxicated was administered Standard Field Sobriety Tests.  He was then taken to Spohn Memorial for medical clearance and a Blood Draw.  Keyes was booked at the City Detention Center and charged with Driving While Intoxicated.  He was cited for Disregarding a Traffic Control Device. His blue Dodge Ram pick-up truck was impounded.

Bowler Sought In Counterfeit Crime

Corpus Christi Police Financial Crimes Investigators would like help from the public to provide additional information about a man who passed counterfeit money at the Saratoga Lanes Bowling Alley.

The same person passed fake money to pay for services at the bowling alley on more than one occasion, and each time has been Tuesday nights. The man is a white male that has a beard and appears to be in his late teens or early 20’s in age. The man wore a long sleeve shirt, blue jeans and tennis shoes.

The man was with a second man and a woman at the time of this crime. The second man had long hair a sleeve tattoo on his right arm and wore a green t-shirt, khaki cargo shorts, and sandals.

The man is suspected of Forgery of a Government Instrument, a second degree felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.

“Watch Dog” Leads Officers to Two Auto Burglars

Two auto burglars were arrested after several complaints were received for two men burglarizing unlocked vehicles as they walked down the 3600 block of Pecan.  One caller confronted the men, while another caller followed them to a nearby apartment complex and called police. 

Officers J. Wicks and E. Hemping searched for the two men who were described as heavy-set White males in their late teens to early twenties.  They were accompanied by a white and brown dog.  Officers were told the men had entered the Brawner Park Apartment complex and a search for the suspects ensued.  A short time later, the Officers saw the dog  on the top of the stairwell.  

As the Officers walked up the stairs, they found Valentin Aleman Jr. (07/16/92) and Daniel Griffin (02/28/92) sorting their stolen loot.  Both men were detained and taken to the Criminal Investigation Division for interviews.   

Aleman and Griffin were arrested and booked at the City Detention Center.  They were both charged with three different counts of Burglary of a Vehicle.

Hotel Guest Arrested With Stolen Vehicle

A 42-year-old woman was arrested Sunday after an investigation of a stolen vehicle found at the Modern Motel.

Corpus Christi Police Officer Christopher Simnacher conducted checks of license plates in the parking lot of the Modern Motel on S.P.I.D. Sunday morning and discovered a white 2002 GMC Envoy was reported stolen from Victoria.

Officer Simnacher checked with the desk clerk of the hotel and identified the guest that had checked in with the vehicle. Officer Simnacher also contacted the victim in Victoria by phone to get the complete information about the stolen vehicle.

Mary Veliz (3/3/1970) was arrested from the hotel for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. The charge is a state jail felony punishable by up to 2 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.

One Arrested for Buying Beer for Minors

Occurred on 5/18/12, 2:18 am  Furnishing Alcohol to a Minor  Auto Town and Burney  1205180022 

Officers patrolling their beat approached several individuals after hearing a loud disturbance coming from their vehicle.  Further investigation revealed Jordan Fuentes (01/15/91) purchased a six-pack of beer for several minors at a local convenience store.  

Four of the minors were cited and Fuentes was arrested.  He was charged with Purchasing or Furnishing Alcohol to a Minor, a Class “A” misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail and a $4,000 fine.

Man Arrested For Stealing A Bench

Occurred Thursday, May 17, 2012, 10:00am, 4900 Weber Road, Theft, 1205170073

A 25-year-old man was arrested Thursday afternoon for stealing a bench from a house at the 4900 block of Weber Road.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a call for a suspicious person that carried a bench on Delphine. Officers found 25-year-old Edwardo Quezada (12/20/1986) and continued to investigate. Police Officers saw a 30-year-old woman on a cell phone who told the officers she intended to call police because her bench was taken from her front yard. The 30-year-old woman described her bench which was returned.

Quezada was arrested and taken to the city detention center for theft, a Class B misdemeanor punishable by up to 6 months in jail and up to a $2,000 fine.

Racer Speeds Her Way to Jail

Occurred on 5/17/12, 2:39 am Racing On Highway/Reckless Driving  Saratoga Blvd/S. Staples Street  1205170027 

Two speeders were observed racing on S. Staples Street as they zig zagged their way thru traffic.  Both vehicles sped away from the Officer heading southbound on S. Staples as they continued to drive parallel to one another, each driver tried to outdistanced the other. 

The Officer was able to pull over both the SUV and Ford Fusion into the parking lot of the Camden Copperridge Apartments, 6635 S. Staples Street.  As the Officer approached the vehicles, the dark-colored SUV exited the parking lot and fled.  The driver of the Fusion was arrested.  Maricruz Silva (02/23/88) was charged with Racing on Highway and Reckless Driving.

 

 

Man Arrested For Leaving 65 Year Old Woman Padlocked In A House

A 64-year-old man was arrested Sunday after he locked a 65-year-old woman recovering from surgery inside her home which did not allow the woman to leave or anyone else to enter.

A 41-year-old woman went to the 65-year-old woman’s house to give a Mother’s Day blessing. The 41-year-old woman called Corpus Christi Police when the 65-year-old woman was found on the floor behind a door with a padlock on the exterior of the door.

Police called for an ambulance and 64-year-old Robert Peters (12/23/1947) arrived to unlock the padlock and provide access to the 65-year-old woman. The woman was taken by ambulance to the hospital for treatment.

Peters was arrested for Unlawful Restraint-Exposing a Person to Serious Bodily Injury, a 3rd degree felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.

Man With Warrant For Arrest Caught Looking In Cars

A 27-year-old man was arrested Monday afternoon after a brief chase from Corpus Christi Police in the area of Aberdeen Avenue and Santa Fe Street.

Corpus Christi Police were called to check a suspicious man who wore a black shirt and white shorts with tattoos on his face and arms because the man went through the parking lot of an apartment complex looking into vehicles. The man saw Corpus Christi Police Officers and ran until he was captured at the 300 block of Dolphin Place.

The man refused to identify himself to the police officers. The man was taken to the city detention center where he was identified as 27-year-old Pedro Perez (3/13/1985). Officers discovered Perez had an active warrant for his arrest; so, Perez was arrested for Evading Arrest or Detention, the warrant for arrest, and Fail to Identify as a Fugitive.

The Evading Arrest charge is a State Jail Felony (an enhanced charge) punishable by up to two years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine. The Fail to Identify charge is a Class A misdemeanor charge punishable by up to 1 year in jail and up to a $4,000 fine.
