Auto Theft Task Force Recovers Stolen Items

The Corpus Christi Police Department Auto Theft Task Force executed a search warrant at 1717 Nile Drive at about 10:30 AM.  Detectives learned during investigations into several burglaries in the city that there was stolen trailers and other equipment at this home and were able to obtain a search warrant.

Detectives found two trailers, two cement spreaders, two compressors, a welder, and other equipment in the backyard and garage of the home.  No one was found in the home. Detectives hope to have arrest warrants issued regarding this case once the investigation is complete.

The Auto Theft Task Force believes that the property recovered today has an estimated value of between $60,000 and $65,000.

Ruth St. Murder Update

UPDATE:

The continuing investigation revealed that additional individuals were possibly involved in the Homicide.  Detectives with the Robbery/Homicide Division located and arrested Gilbert Perez Jr. (07/12/94) for Murder on Wednesday evening. Additionally, they obtained arrest warrants for Albert Suarez Jr. (05/28/95) and Edward Elizondo (08/06/95).

This morning, US Marshals arrested Albert Suarez Jr. in Corpus Christi. As of this posting, Edward Elizondo is still outstanding.

The investigation continues.

UPDATE: 

On Saturday, August 9th 2014, Detectives with the Homicide Division obtained an arrest warrant for Jessie Salazar (10-02-1995).

Detectives were informed that Salazar had turned himself in to the Nueces County Jail on Monday afternoon at approximately 3:15 p.m. His bond was set at $250,000.00

At 6:39 AM, Saturday morning, Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a suspicious person call at a home located at 2222 Ruth Street.

A 15 year old male called police after he went outside of his house and saw a man lying on the ground. Officers found a 29 year old male victim down a driveway on the east side of the house underneath the stairway leading to an upstairs apartment. The victim had multiple gunshot wounds and was dead at the scene.

Officers were able to contact several witnesses who heard gunshots in the area at about 10:00 PM on Friday night. Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a call for shots fired at 10:08 PM on Friday night in that area and did recover an unfired bullet, and at this time it is unknown if that evidence is related to the homicide. Officers did not see the victim at that time due to the darkness and the victim’s position.

At this time Corpus Christi Police Homicide Detective are investigating this crime and no suspects have been arrested.

OFFENSE: Burglary of a Building (PC 30.02 State Jail Felony)

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a burglary of a business located at 5756 S. Staples St. and found that someone had entered the business through the rear door and stole a safe that was kept inside one of the cabinets. The burglary occurred sometime between 6:30 pm on July 24 and 8 am on July 25. The contents inside of the safe and damage to the business was valued at over $22,000.  Video surveillance shows a hispanic or white male, 5`9’ tall, about 180 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes enter the back door. CCPD Investigating Ruth Street Homicide

Offense: Burglary of a Vehicle (PC 30.04 Class A Misdemeanor)

Corpus Christi Police Officers were on patrol when they observed a suspicious male walking in the 600 block of Airline Rd. attempting to conceal an object he was carrying. Officers contacted Issac Coleman (10/10/1993) and found him to be in possession of a car radio. Officers were able to find a blue GMC truck parked in front of a home in the 6800 block of Monette St. that was unlocked and missing a car stereo and had wires sticking out of the dash. Officers contacted the 49 year old male owner of the truck who confirmed that the radio was from his vehicle. The property was returned to the owner, and the suspect was arrested for burglary of a vehicle, a Class A misdemeanor.

Corpus Christi Police Detectives obtained two felony arrest warrants in connection to a sexual assault of a child on Roberto Coleman (12/14/1982) early yesterday afternoon. Patrol officers went to his home address in the 4900 block of Chatfield Rd. a short time later and arrested him without incident. One of the warrants issued was for aggravated sexual assault of a child the other was a warrant for indecency with a child. Both warrants have separate bonds of $250,000 each.

A 33 year old male victim called Corpus Christi Police and said he had taken money out from a bank ATM at Doddridge St. and Alameda St. and returned to his apartment in the 3300 block of South Alameda St. The victim said he had been home for only a short time when his front door was forced open and a male come into his apartment. The victim attempted to run into his bathroom to get away from the suspect but he forced his way in before the victim could get the door closed. The victim said he was assaulted and the suspect made demands to give him the money. The suspect left the apartment once the victim turned over the money. The victim thinks that the suspect may have followed him from the ATM to his apartment. The suspect is described as a black male, about 25 to 30 years old, between 5`6”and 5`9” tall and about 150 pounds, with short black hair. He was last seen wearing a black and red shirt with white or silver shorts. CCFD EMS responded and treated the victim, but he declined to be taken to the hospital. Officers are still investigating this case, and no suspects have been arrested.

Offense: Driving While Intoxicated (PC 49.04 Class B Misdemeanor)

Corpus Christi Police Officers were on patrol when a store clerk told them that a male had just stole a twelve pack of beer from the store and left in a truck. Officers spotted the dark colored 2013 Toyota Tundra leaving the parking lot going west on S. Padre Island Dr. Officers stopped the truck and contacted the driver Zachary Dintelman (06/10/1986), and front passenger Clinton Newell (01/20/1992). The front seat passenger was identified as the suspect who had stolen the beer, and he was also found to be intoxicated. He was arrested for public intoxication and theft, both Class C misdemeanors. The driver was also found to be intoxicated and he was arrested for driving while intoxicated, a Class B misdemeanor. During a search of his truck, officers found a handgun in the center console and also evidence of marijuana usage in the driver side door. He was additionally charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon, a Class A misdemeanor and possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor and is truck was impounded.

Offense: Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (PC 22.02 Second Degree Felony)

A 20 year old male victim reported to Corpus Christi Police Officers that he and his 18 year old girlfriend were walking west on Manshiem Blvd. near Ingram Dr. when a male approached them and asked him to see a knife that was clipped to the side of his pocket. The victim showed it to him and the suspect then asked if he had any synthetic marijuana and the victim told the suspect that he did not. The suspect then opened the knife and demanded the victims backpack. The victim was able to hold onto his property, but then the suspect stabbed the victim on the left side of his wrist causing a large deep gash. The suspect dropped the knife and also dropped the backpack he had forced from the victim and he took off running south on Ingram Dr. The suspect was described as a hispanic male in his twenties with a mustache and goatee wearing black shorts and a black beanie. CCFD EMS transported the victim to the hospital for treatment. Officers are still investigating this case, and no suspects have been arrested.

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to the Bealls Store located at 3725 Leopard St. for a theft. The manager advised a bald hispanic male left the store without paying for over $150 in merchandise. The manager also believes that a female who was there with the male came into the store to distract employees. There was also another female in a vehicle waiting for the couple. Video images from the stores surveillance cameras show the male who stole the items and the female who was there to help him. Female Swipes Cell Phone

Corpus Christi Police Detectives need your help identifying a cell phone thief. Officers took a report for a stolen cell phone from a woman when she placed her phone on the counter at a business located at 4531 Kostroyz Rd. and another female took it. Store security cameras show the female suspect picking up the cell phone from the top of the counter next to the cash register and walking away. In the video it appears that the female suspect concealed said cell phone in her shirt. The suspect then is seen walking out of the store and left in the silver vehicle shown in the photos. The suspect is described as a black female, 20 to 25 years old, and 5’5” to 5’7” tall, about 240 to 260 pounds. She was wearing a white blouse and grey pants with sunglasses hanging off the neck. In one photo she is seen pushing a baby stroller. More Masked Men Doing More Bad Things

A 28 year old female clerk called police after two males entered the Stripes Store located at 11901 Leopard Street, one wearing a dark jacket, a ski mask and armed with a handgun, and demanding money. The other male jumped over the counter and removed money from the register and they both left the store on foot. The suspect armed with the weapon was described as a Hispanic male, unknown age, about 5’7” to 5’10”, 140 to 160 pounds, wearing a dark shirt and khaki pants. The suspect who jumped the counter and grabbed the money is described as a white male unknown age height or weight, last seen wearing a black shirt with white writing on it, khaki shorts and a bandana. Detectives investigating this case released camera images of both suspects involved in this robbery. Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a robbery of a convenience store located in the 5600 block of Leopard Street. The 52 year old store clerk told officers that she was behind the counter of the store when a male suspect, that had a  mask over his head, charged into the store with a knife in his hand. The male then walked behind the counter and opened the cash register, grabbed cash and ran out the store. The suspect was described as 5`6″ to 5`7″, stocky male in his late twenties wearing a gray long sleeve shirt, blue pants and brown work boots. Camera images showing the suspect were released by investigators.
