Information Sought in Robbery Investigation

Police were called to the 1700 block of Van Loan for a shooting.  Upon their arrival, Officers found the 29-year-old victim being checked by CCFD Emergency Personnel for a minor cut to his forearm.

The victim who appeared to be highly intoxicated told Officers he was walking home from a nearby bar when a man forcibly took several hundred dollars from him. The victim’s uncle believed the victim had been shot and called police.

The suspect is described as a light-skinned Black man with braided hair, 20 to 30 years of age, 6’2” to 6’3” feet tall and weighing 220 to 250 lbs.

24 Year Old Man Dies From Gun Shot on Brett Street

A 24-year-old man was killed and a 20-year-old man was seriously injured Monday night at the 4100 block of Brett Street.

Corpus Christi Police were dispatched to the Four Winds Apartments on the 4100 block of Brett Street to investigate a complaint of gunshots. Police Officers discovered evidence of an aggravated assault and then received information that a 24-year-old man arrived at an area hospital with a fatal gunshot wound.

Corpus Christi Police collected information from several witnesses who said they saw a fight and heard a gunshot. Corpus Christi Police Detectives arrived to collect evidence and information and are still in the early stages of the investigation for this crime.

The Detectives discovered a 20-year-old man at an area hospital that had a gunshot wound to the head. The 20-year-old man was at a different hospital than the 24-year-old man and detectives believe the two men were injured in the same event at the Four Winds Apartments. Detectives did not interfere with medical treatment for the 20-year-old and look forward to gather information from that man at a later time.

Local Missing Woman Found

The Corpus Christi Police Department would like to thank the community and our Media Partners for their assistance in locating Missing Person Linda Darleen Owen.  Shortly after posting, the Police were notified of  Owen’s  admittance to a local hospital.

Detectives Need Your Help to Solve Robbery

Corpus Christi Police Department Homicide/Robbery Detectives are asking the public’s assistance to identify a man who robbed the Liquid Town on Saturday, October 6, 2012. At approximately 8:30pm,  Officers responded to the liquor store and contacted the 30-year-old store clerk who reported she was robbed at gunpoint.  The 55-year-old store manager attempted to verbally intervene when the man pointed the gun at him and again demanded the money from the register.  The man ran out the store with an undetermined amount of money and fled to the east side of the business where his getaway vehicle was parked.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male or a light complected Black male, 35 to 45 years of age, and 5’10” feet tall.  He was wearing a long-sleeve work shirt and dark-colored Dickie work pants.  He was last seen fleeing eastbound on Saratoga Boulevard in a dark-colored passenger vehicle.

Police Seek Business Owner For Felony Theft

Leza Avril Chandler

                A felony arrest warrant has been issued for the apprehension of Leza Avril Chandler (7/16/1975), the former owner of Cha Cha Events, for theft. The complaint includes 11 victims of the theft in which the total loss amounts to $48,318.73.

Several individuals complained to the Corpus Christi Police Department that payments were made to Chandler to schedule events with Cha Cha Events located at 10241 South Padre Island Drive and Chandler closed the business and left town without completing the contracts or returning the money.

The events that were scheduled with Chandler were weddings and many attempts were made to allow Chandler to provide service or return the money she received. A criminal complaint against Chandler was made and the felony warrant for Chandler’s arrest was completed October 5, 2012 for the offense of theft.

Chandler is described as a 37-year-old Black woman, 5ft. 5 inches tall, 175 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Police Search For Bank Robber On Ayers Street

                Corpus Christi Police are searching for a bank robber Friday after a man entered the Compass Bank on Ayers, displayed a handgun, and left with money from the bank.

A man wore a bandana over his face and entered the bank in the Mission Shopping Center a little after noon on Friday, displayed a handgun and demanded all the customers to lay on the floor. The man demanded money from the tellers, and then left the bank. No one was injured in the robbery.

The man was last seen running west from the bank toward the Cross-town Expressway. The man is described as a white man who stood about 6 foot tall, about 190 pounds, wore a brown cap, green plaid shirt, blue jeans and gloves. The man wore a bandana on his face to conceal his identity.

Police Search For Man Who Robbed Store on Old Brownsville Road

The Corpus Christi Police would like help from the public to identify and locate the person who robbed a Stripes convenience store on October 4, 2012.

A man entered the Stripes store located at 4900 Old Brownsville Road at 1:22am on October 4, 2012. The man went to the cooler and picked up 2 cases of Budweiser beer valued at $42 dollars. The store clerk told the man who beer sales were not permitted at that time of day and the man threatened the store clerk.

The man left the store and drove away in a maroon 2007 Chevy Impala. The man is described as a Hispanic man with short hair and facial hair. The man wore a light blue stripped polo shirt, blue jeans and black shoes.

6 Year Old Boy Drowns On Padre Island Beach

A six-year-old boy drowned at the Beach south of Bob Hall Pier Friday night.

A 47-year-old woman brought her unconscious 6-year-old step son into the Emergency Department of the Bay Area Hospital at 6:18pm. Attempts to revive the 6-year-old boy were unsuccessful.

The 47-year-old woman said she watched the boy play in the water and let him take off his life jacket while he played in shallow water. The boy disappeared under water and surfaced face down in the water. The 47-year-old woman rushed the 6-year-old boy to the hospital for treatment.

The Corpus Christi Police Department initiated an investigation and seeks to gather all the information about this event. No criminal charges have been applied to the 47-year-old woman and the incident is still under investigation. Laura Day (2-8-65) was arrested at around 4:30pm on a warrant for Endangering a Child in connection with the drowning death of the six year old boy on October 5th. The charge is a second degree felony. The investigation in this case continues.

Vehicle Disappears When Left Unattended At Gas Pumps With Keys And Unlocked Doors

                The Corpus Christi Police Auto Theft Investigators would like help from the public to identify and locate the individuals responsible for the unauthorized use of a vehicle at the Stripes at Ayers St. and Horne Rd.

A 32-year-old man told police he parked his black 2004 GMC Yukon sport utility vehicle at the gas pumps at the Stripes located at 4101 Ayers Street Saturday night on September 22, 2012. The 32-year-old man said he left the keys on the driver’s seat and the doors unlocked when he entered the store. The 32-year-old man said his vehicle was gone when he walked out of the store.

The Yukon was last seen southbound on Ayers Street. The Yukon has tinted windows and a sunroof. Video surveillance from the store captured images of the person responsible for this crime.
