“Drag Racer” Arrested, Vehicle Impounded

Occurred on 11/6/11, 10:57 p.m.   Racing On Highway   Cooper’s Alley St./n. Shoreline Boulevard     1111060160 

An Officer was in the 200 block of S. Shoreline when he heard the distinctive sound of two vehicles racing.  A black Chevrolet Camaro and brown Chevrolet Blazer were seen racing one another as they traveled northbound on Shoreline.

The Officer was able to pull over the black Camaro, but the Blazer raced on, fleeing northbound on Shoreline.  The driver, Cesar Acosta (05/26/92) was arrested and charged with Racing on a Highway.  The Camaro was impounded.

Missing Person Jose Villafranco Rivera Located in San Antonio, TX

 

Detectives with the Missing Person Unit are asking for the public’s assistance in locating 65-year-old Jose Villafranco Rivera.  Jose was last seen by his family on November 1, 2011 at 7:00 pm when he left his home driving his 1985 white Dodge Truck, L.P. 04JYY3. 

The family last spoke to Jose by phone around 8:oo pm that evening and he has not been heard of since.

Jose is a local minister and a retired school teacher here in our area.  He is an insulin dependent diabetic and is on several medications for various illnesses.

If anyone knows where Jose can be located or if you have seen his vehicle we ask you to contact Detective R.L. Garcia  361-886-2850 or call the Corpus Christi Police Department at 361-886-2600.

Thank you for the assistance provided involving Missing Person Jose Villafranco Rivera.  His family has notified the Corpus Christi Police Department’s Missing Person’s Unit of  his whereabouts.  Mr. Villafranco Rivera was found safe just north of San Antonio, TX.

The Auto Theft Task Force is investigating an auto burglary that occurred on 10-23-11 at Hans Suter Park, 700 Ennis Joslin Rd.  The offenders stole credit cards which were later used at a local grocery store.

The offender appears to be a Hispanic male in his early 20’s, at the  time of the use of the stolen credit card he was wearing a black t-shirt and jeans.

Anyone with information about the identity of this offender is urged to call Crimestoppers at 888TIPS, the information you provide could earn you a cash reward.

Halloween Night Accident Results in One Arrest

Occurred on 10/31/11, 8:13 p.m.   Accident /D.W.I.   2100 Ayers     C1107877/1110310129

Officers responded to Ayers and 18th Street for a major accident involving a drunk driver.  Upon their arrival, Officers discovered the driver had fled the accident site and was being chased by witnesses. 

Officers joined the chase and quickly apprehended the driver Samuel Mancillas (01/31/85) who was positively identified as the driver who slammed into the business at 2108 Ayers Street causing extensive damage.

Mancillas appeared to be intoxicated and transported to Spohn Shoreline for injuries sustained in the accident.  A Blood Warrant was obtained and a Blood Specimen taken.  Mancillas was medically cleared and arrested. 

He was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Failure to Control Speed/Unsafe/Inappropriate Speed, Fail to Maintain Financial Responsibility.

Pedestrian Struck in Baldwin Boulevard Accident Dies from Injuries

Occurred on 10/27/11, 8:24 p.m.   Intoxication Assault   Baldwin     C1107781/1110270151

Officers responded to a major accident involving a pedestrian at Baldwin Boulevard and Cheyenne Street.  Upon their arrival, Officers found the 51-year-old victim had been struck by a maroon 1998 Chevrolet pick-up truck as he crossed the street not at a legal cross walk. 

The victim sustained serious head trauma and transported to Spohn Memorial by CCFD emergency personnel. 

Further investigation revealed the driver Roy Lloyd Goswick (11/01/46) had left a local bar shortly before the accident.  Goswick appeared to be intoxicated and Standard Field Sobriety Tests were performed.  A blood sample was also obtained when he was medically cleared at Spohn Shoreline.  

Goswick was arrested and charged with Intoxication Assault with a Vehicle.  His truck was impounded.

Update:

Traffic Division Captain Vesely reported the pedestrian victim died Monday, October 31, 2011 from the injuries received in the October 27, 2011 accident.

Goswick will now be facing  Intoxication Manslaughter charges.

One Person Tased and Three Arrested During Scuffle

An Officer responded  to the Stripes Convenience Store at Port and Mary for an assault with injuries. CCFD emergency personnel were found treating a 55-year-old victim who reported she was assaulted while at Mica’s Bar by an unidentified Hispanic male when she accidentally bumped into him and failed to apologize.   The victim was treated for injuries to her face and released.

Officers were diverted to Mica’s Lounge for a fight at the bar.  An Officer contacted Domingo J. Reyna (04/08/80) inside the bar creating a disturbance and was in the process of escorting him outside when, Emma Villarreal (03/03/88) grabbed the Officer’s arm and tried to prevent his arrest.  When she was unable to do so, Martha Villarreal (12/17/55)  also interfered trying to step between the Officer and Reyna.

The Officer finally escorted Reyna out of the bar, but as he attempted to handcuff the suspect a struggle ensued in which the suspect attempted to flee with the assistance of Emma and Martha Villarreal.   Reyna was tased and handcuffed.  All three were arrested.

Reyna was charged with Resisting Arrest, Search or Transport and an outstanding warrant.  He was additionally charged with Possession of Marijuana when  a small quantity was found on his person.

Emma Marie Villarreal and Martha Villarreal were both charged with Interference with Public Duties.

Officers were unable to locate the suspect involved in the original assault .  The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 40 to 45 years of age, 5’5″ to 5’10”  feet tall, and weighing 200 lbs.

18-Year-Old Driver Dies From Injuries Received in Rollover Accident

Occurred on 10/25/11, 3:16 p.m. Major Accident 6900 IH 37 north C1107720

Officers and Traffic Investigators responded to a major accident involving an 18-year-old female who was traveling north bound on IH 37 when she swerved off the freeway and drove onto the grassy median.

The driver over corrected and lost control her green 2000 Mitsubishi Montero. The vehicle rolled over several times and came to a rest on its side.

The victim was transported to Spohn Memorial where she died Thursday, October 27, 2011 from injuries sustained in the accident.

Two Arrested When Vehicle Reported “Almost Stolen”

Occurred on 10/27/11, 7:38 p.m.   Possession of Marijuana/Fail to ID   18th@ Laredo     1110270137

Officers were waved down by the 49-year-old owner of a silver 2000 Dodge Stratus who reported his vehicle stolen.  Officers located the “stolen” vehicle at Laredo and SH 286 along being driven by Richard Hernandez (08/10/78) who was accompanied by a White female.

Hernandez, fearing  he was wanted, lied to Officers and originally identified himself as Bobbie Hernandez.  He didn’t have any warrants of arrest, but was arrested and charged with Failure to Identify.

The passenger Cecelia Noelle Jensen (02/03/87) was found to have Marijuana and a “Crack Pipe” on her person.  Jensen was also arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Further investigation revealed the vehicle had not been stolen, but had been loaned to an acquaintance of the victim who let Hernandez borrow it.   Officers returned the vehicle to the owner.

Two Men Arrested for Tire Dumping in Neighborhood

Occurred 10/26/11, 10:48 a.m.   Illegal Dumping   1200 25th Street     1110260056

Officers responded to anonymous complaints of illegal dumping at 1200 25th Street by a While male accompanied by a Hispanic male dressed in Wilke Tire work shirts.  Upon their arrival, Officers located several piles of used tires directly behind the back gate of Wilke Tire.

Further investigation revealed Wilke Tire owner Donald Allen Wilke (09/11/64) and his employee Juan R. Lopez (09/27/71) were responsible for dumping the tires.  Wilke and Lopez were arrested and charged with Illegal Dumping. 

Solid Waste will dispose of the tires which were photographed by a Code Enforcement Officer.
