Robbery Victim Chases After Suspect Who Escapes in Waiting Getaway Car

Occurred on 10/25/11, 9:03 p.m.   Aggravated Robbery   Sam Rankin and Leopard St.     1110250122

Officers contacted a 49-year-old victim who reported he was robbed as he walked to the Stripes Convenience Store located at Staples and Leopard Streets.  The victim told Officers he was approached by a Black male who demanded his wallet.   The victim refused to hand over his wallet, but the suspect was able to steal the money he was holding in his hand. 

The victim attempted to pull his money back, but the suspect pulled a knife and threatened the victim.  The suspect chased after the victim as he attempted to escape.  The suspect stopped chasing the victim and fled in the opposite direction.  The victim called 911 and began to chase after the suspect who jumped into a white Chevrolet pick-up truck driven by a white female and they sped away.

The first suspect is described as a Black male, 30 to 40 years of age, 5’6″ feet tall, and weighing 160 lbs.  He was last seen wearing a dark-colored t-shirt, and khaki shorts, and a black hat.

The second suspect is described as a White female, 40 years of  age, with blonde hair.  She was last seen driving a newer model white Chevrolet pickup truck.

Shaky Hands Give Wanted Subject Away

Occurred on 11/23/11, 3:51 p.m.   Wanted Subjects   4425 Valdez     1110230077

Officers responded to suspicious subjects inside a vacant house.  The caller reported the home was often entered by drug users.   Officers arrived to find two subjects inside the residence. 

A 53-year-old Hispanic male told Officers, he along with his cousin were the only ones inside the residence. 

The other male identified himself as Joe DeAsses, but was later positively identified as Noe Contreras (03/12/61) and found to be wanted. 

Conteras was arrested and charged with an outstanding Parole Violation for Possession of Cocaine and an outstanding Travis County warrant for Burglary of a Habitation. 

He was additionally charged with Failure to Identify as a Fugitive.  The 53-year-old male was released.

 

Juveniles Escape TYC Custody During Fight

Occurred on 10/22/11, 9:21 p.m.   Escape from Custody   600 N. Shoreline      110220141

Officers responded to a fight call at People’s Street T-Head involving multiple individuals. Upon their arrival, Officers contacted Texas Youth Commission employee who reported he was picking up several TYC halfway residents who were out on work release. 

He told Officers a fight broke out amongst a couple of the juveniles as they were waiting in the van.  As he attempted to break up the fight, two of the juveniles involved in the fight fled. Mr. Sanchez was unable to chase after the two juveniles as he had several more juveniles in the TYC van. 

Officers were provided with descriptions of the two escapees and Directives to Apprehend were issued.  The two escapees are from the  Dallas area, but are familiar with the area as they work at a local downtown restaurant. 

The first suspect was described as an 18-year-old Hispanic male, 5’5″ feet tall and weighing 137 lbs.  The second suspect is described an 18-year-old Hispanic male, 5’4″ feet tall and weighing 124 lbs.

Wanted Fugitive

Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Lance Flanagan (4-8-72). He is wanted for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession with the Intent to Distribute.

He was last seen driving an older model Black Tahoe.

Let’s Take a Ride

Officers were dispatched to 4908 Up River Rd., Lone Star Wrecker, for a disturbance with a customer.  As officers were en route, the call was updated and the disturbance was now at 1100 Cantwell St.

When officers arrived on Cantwell, the owner of the wrecker service told police that Khalid Fawaz Alshammary (10-27-1987) had arrived at the yard to pick up his vehicle. The owner explained to Alshammary what he needed in order to get his vehicle returned. Alshammary acknowledged him and told him that he needed to get into his vehicle to retrieve the necessary paperwork.

That is when Alshammary got into his vehicle and attempted to drive it out of the yard without paying the fees that were owed. The wrecker yard attendant then stood in front of Alshammary’s vehicle and told him that he could not take the vehicle until the fees had been paid. Alshammary continued towards the wrecker attendant and struck him with the vehicle. The wrecker yard attendant, fearing he was about to be run over and having nowhere else to go, got onto the vehicle’s hood. Alshammary continued to drive his vehicle out of the wrecker yard and onto Up River Rd. and finally onto Cantwell St. Alshammary attempted to shake the victim off the vehicle on several occasions by steering erratically and braking hard but the wrecker yard attendant stayed on the vehicle. Alshammary finally stopped his vehicle, when another employee from the wrecker yard managed to get his vehicle in front of the Alshammary’s vehicle.

Alshammary was arrested and charged with Aggravated Robbery.

The victim sustained minor injuries, but declined medical treatment at the scene.

Police Nab Robber

Police responded to the Stripes store located at 1303 3rd St. for a theft of beer. When they arrived witnesses tell police that he saw Herman Grey  (3-21-1972) steal  two beers from the Stripes store.

He then followed Grey to see where he was going, that is when Grey pulled out a small silver handgun and took the witnesses backpack.

When police arrived they viewed the surveillance video in the store and put out a police B.O.L.O. for the suspect.

Grey was located in the area of six points and brought back to the Stripes store were both the clerk and witness identified him as the individual who stole the beer and the backpack at gun point.

Grey was arrested and charged with Aggravated Robbery.

 

Sting Uncovers Prostitution Ring

Corpus Christi Police Department Vice and Narcotics Officers received complaints of a prostitution ring which was operating out of a local downtown hotel.  Further investigation revealed the prostitution ring consisted of three females and two males from the Amarillo, TX area.

An undercover sting resulted in the arrest of Lisa McLean (01/04/85) and Sharmra Johnson (12/15/88) at 510 N. Chaparral St.  Both women were charged with Prostitution.  Their arrests led to the remaining members of the prostitution ring being booted out of the hotel.

 

Loose Ammunition Leads to Discovery of Stolen Firearm

An Officer pulled over a vehicle for a traffic violation and contacted the driver Tomas Ortiz (03/22/86).  Further investigation revealed Ortiz was in possession of ammunition and a rifle.  Officers found the rifle to be stolen out of Port Arthur.  The two passengers were released, but Ortiz was arrested for Theft of a Firearm.  His black 2007 Mazda was impounded.

Aggravated Assault (Drive-by) 2800 Topeka

Units responded to the 2800 blk. of Topeka reference a drive -by. When Officers arrived and spoke to witnesses they learned  that someone in a silver Honda had shot several times in the direction of the victim, while he was standing between two homes.

It does not appear that anyone was struck by the shots. Officers on scene recovered 3 shell casings on the roadway.

Police need your help in identifying the individual that stole three (3) surveillance cameras from the City/County Health Dept. located at 1702 Horne Rd.

The surveillance footage, from the very cameras the individual stole, shows the subject using a rope to lasso the cameras and tear then from the mounting brackets. He continues his action with two other cameras that are attached to the building.

The individual is described as Medium build male wearing a camouflaged ball cap, a long sleeve button down work style shirt, and jeans.
